We are planning to fly to London and stay for 3 nights before heading to Greece for 7 nights. Any suggestion to do in both places. We like plays and beaches.

Where are you flying From? and What are your dates? Makes a difference (i.e., sometimes Americans plan april trips to greece & think it means swimming weather). Also -- your trip may include a Greek holiday that can affect things ... I'll give my suggestions if you share more.

Taxi to Piraeus for 5:30 PM Blue Star Ferry to Naxos, arrives about 10 pm. -- stay at studio units, many available, on St. George Beach (adjacent to Naxos Town). Beach safe for 7 yr old, sandy, shallow, deepens gradually, 15 yr old will like windsurfing, kayak, other water sports... also he/she can wander into town & back safely, it's a "family island" lots of other teens to hang with. 15 miles of golden sand beaches all in a row, accessible by busses every 30 minutes til midnight. Also fun to rent car for a day drive all around the island, ruins statues, marble quarries, mountains, etc. Naxos has day excursions to Santorini (monday), and also to Delos/Mykono (Sunday - Tues - Thurs).

YOu will have to do your theatre in London; if you get back to Athens in time to spend 2 nights there, you could attend a performance in Herodius Atticus, the ancient theatre on the side of the acropolis, or a performance of traditional Greek dancing at Dora Stratou Theatre. In Naxos at top of the high town (Kastro), in courtyard of a Venetian mansion there are weekly musical performances, jazz or Greek instrumental/dancing. Other events placarded around town.
