That's a myth about French women not shaving, there are some who don't as there are here, but in the cities, they are well groomed.

I think it would be great if Jimmy Choo got into designing wedding gowns, especially that part that trails behind the bride. That way fashionistas could gush, "Ooooh...I just love your Jimmy Choo train!"

m_kingdom Mar 30th, 2004 11:08 AM

Wedding wear is for one-time use, by its very definition it has to be naff. You really have no idea.

capo Mar 30th, 2004 11:13 AM

That was a joke. :) Maybe I needed the extra Choo.

But speaking of "naff", I recall a seeing a clothing store called (I think) "Naff-Naff" on my first visit to Paris, in 1987. I remember it because it was such a funny-sounding name.

cigalechanta Mar 30th, 2004 11:15 AM

I remember naf-naf they had great casual clothes and I boought a pair of their printed sneakers.

ThinGorjus Mar 30th, 2004 11:18 AM

I also apologize to Oaktown Traveller. I never mean to be malicious; my intent is humour. This is why I use the :)

You have to take responsibility for your posts, however. Some of your writings above border on the inane and seem rather doctrinaire. You accuse us of the same behavior that you are guilty of.

Please do not leave this forum. You just have to start drinking gin, like I do, before logging on. It makes everyone here oh so much nicer. Cheers.

ThinGorjus why the self-righteous act? If you're gonna be your camp, bitchy self, at least be sincere about it!

pgmargate Mar 30th, 2004 11:26 AM

Naf-Naf sells sneakers? I thought it was only us uncouth americans that wore sneakers in style crazed Europe.

emmitt Mar 30th, 2004 11:34 AM

All of this from suggesting two posters stop being snobs. Too funny.

We do take our shoes seriously though!

Steveboy Mar 30th, 2004 11:34 AM

pgmargate:

Let me quote you, since you are apparently incapable of either saying what you mean, or of understanding your own statements: "Why should Amy expect that the churches in europe are any different then in the U.S.?" And by the way Rhodes Scholar, it's "than" not "then." And Europe is capitalized. It's a continent - the one that you traveled through with a Eurailpass in 34 days! Wow, were you able to do it without wetting your pants?

And while you're sitting around the pool at the Burj-Al-Arab hotel (there's a dream destination if I've ever heard one) take a good, long look at your reflection in the water. You'll see what we mean.

capo Mar 30th, 2004 11:36 AM

Naf-Naf, not Naff-Naff, eh? Thanks, Mimi.

I wonder if the Naf is related to the British slang Naff. It would seem odd to have a clothing store with a name that's a slang term for tacky or unfashionable...

http://www.londonslang.com/db/n/

...but, on the other hand, maybe it's being used in a hip, ironic sense.

m_kingdom Mar 30th, 2004 11:40 AM

Burj al Arab, what a vulgar, Arab pile, utterly vile.

capo Mar 30th, 2004 11:41 AM

Just found this... :)

Stevie: Your inability to read an understand the written word hasn`t improved. So my typing skills don`t meet your standards (big deal).

pgmargate Mar 30th, 2004 12:04 PM

Yes we are going to the water park, but we are also going to see my cousin (a navy seal who is stationed in the area. Whats wrong with a little family support.

Ziana Mar 30th, 2004 12:06 PM

I am telling you- m_k is a butler to old lady with bad temper. She obuses him mercylesly.
When he is off - he pretends to be her and gets even with the world.
But what is really funny that I think he really is adapted to woman style and he can't get out of the shell to be a man. Old worned out man !

kismetchimera Mar 30th, 2004 12:09 PM

..and now for something entirely different.

Before I went to Paris last November, I read somewhere that lots and lots of women in Paris, all ages, wore black leather trousers. I never saw one single pair. I was going to take mine, but my friends reminded me that they get "knees" and look like c$@p... and oh, how gauche!
Funny, how "everyone" sees things, reports them and if printed, turn into some sort of treatise of truth... black leather pants! Bah!

Steveboy Mar 30th, 2004 12:59 PM

pgmargate:

Typing skills? No one would ever use the word "skills" in connection with you. And, of course, your latest post is precisely what I would have expected - a meaningless regurgitation with no substantive response. Obviously, you now see how foolish you were. You said something, then claimed you didn't. You grow sadder by the minute. Even m kingdom has abandoned you for your laughable conceit about a wretched hotel in oil country.

You now stand alone as the poster boy for the Fodors Hall of Shame. I'll waste no more time on you regardless of what pathetic prattle comes next. You provoked all rational Fodorites by your tasteless and asinine response to a perfectly reasonable inquiry. Fortunately, you are not the arbiter of what belongs on this board. Unfortunately, your verbal refuse promises to sicken us indefinitely
