What a good laugh! No one has mentioned the wedding cake! I bake wedding cakes but I am not sure I can get one through customs from Atlanta, GA. I will volunteer to stop in Paris on the way over and pick up pastry for all!!!

I actually met my boyfriend of 4 years (we eventually broke up when I went to Hong Kong on assignment) in Rome whil travelling for two weeks. I moved to Budapest for a year for work and we would travel all around Europe together. It helps to find a mate the enjoys to travel otherwise I would just get too bored with that person.

Re: Hey, has anyone seen the picture of Tony & his wife, Virginia, on the Fodorites board? Sally, is that Tony Hughes nee Stellarossa?

Nope, that's a different Tony. You can see my Tony at www.edhenderson.com/tonyinamerica (pics from our trip this year.)
MaryC Dec 14th, 2001 03:38 PM

SOOOO!!! They can delete my post about the red velvet armadillo wedding cake cut they can't update the search function! (Maybe it was my suggestion of serving the butt end to Tony - but I totally cribbed that from "Steel Magnolias").

Wow, Emily, so you ended up w/ Tony! How romantic. Has that been over 2 yrs. now? Have you celebrated nuptials yet? And was there a red velvet armadillo wedding cake?

Rex, if you're listening, I still haven't heard back from Fodor's about fixing search problem & I e-mailed them yesterday. Maybe if we all flooded them w/ e-mails we might get a response? :)

So any update on the Tony and Emily romance? I know that they went to the US together. Did they get married? Are they living happily ever after in Edinburgh? Any little ones on the horizon? Inquiring minds want to know!

MaryC Dec 17th, 2001 10:05 AM

Inquriing minds don't just want to know, at this point, they NEED to know.

And Stellarossa, please come back to the forum!

Hmmm Dec 17th, 2001 01:10 PM

DId I miss the union of Tony & Emily? Any wedding pics taken by Fodorites in attendance?

! Dec 17th, 2001 09:23 PM

I want info on this wedding that I missed. DId my invite get lost in the mail?

Cathy Dec 18th, 2001 08:43 AM

Now I'm curious as well about the Tony and Emily romance.

BJ Dec 18th, 2001 12:30 PM

I suppose Emily and Tony might be too busy with their romance to bother with this forum anymore. DId Tony just use us for US info and now has deserted us?

I met my fiance on a cruise from Istanbul to Rome. I also met an Australian man with whom I had a long relationship while I was traveling in Italy. It is a fabulous place to meet people. I don't know how old you are (not that it should matter) but I met the man in Italy while staying in the same hostel. We travelled together for six months - all over Europe, and had the most amazing time of my life. Too bad he had to go to Australia - and I to the States. Or he might be my fiance now. It's worth a try - and you always have something in common - adventure.

How do you all meet these people on your holidays? Do you approach them in single bars or meet them on museum tours? Just wondering what I've been doing wrong on my trips.

Doug Dec 18th, 2001 08:40 PM

I usually travel Stateside and usually for ski vacations. This year I am going to Austria for a fabulous week to ski and celebrate New Years Eve. Any of you ladies heading in that direction let me know and you can show me the sites. I haven't been to Italy/Austria area for several years. Looking forward to enjoying some of the coffee houses.

Single Dec 18th, 2001 10:39 PM

Are there more men like Doug out there? I'd love to be able to meet a single man who loves to travel. Anyone fitting this category?

Tony Hughes Dec 19th, 2001 01:04 PM

Daft rumours. I'm not married and I'm not in the USA - yet. Yes Emily and I are still together. If you're too cheap to buy my book, you can see some pics and read about the trip on my website:
www.stellarossa.com. It gets updated all the time so keep checking back every so often.

I'm in Ohio/Kentucky/Indiana during mid Feb 2002, eager to see some more of the great nation - anyone care to show me around?
kavey Dec 19th, 2001 01:26 PM

What's the book called and can we get it on Amazon?
If not Tony mate, we can't indulge!

Good to see you, I take it you got my email today then?

Kavey
