I must wade in here. I have had occasionaly probs with posting but I think as long as its a free service, I'll just try again later. I only log on between patients or in some other down time and am not in the travel business so I culd care less if I can't "play" each time. As for the other item...My opinion is as valid as others..I could do with a bit less rudness...I don't care about an opinion of an opinion. I won't be sarcastic because some have had humorectomies and I don't need the barbs...If I want to be verbally attacked, its easier to stop by the local zoo and gesture at the monkey cage. As for travel-related items, If I have had relevant first-hand knowledge about some place or some accommodations, well-that seems to be what we are all looking for here. Give it a rest.

Christina, simply said, if you have problems using this forum perhaps you should find another one to use. I agree with Cherie, I too get stuck with trying to post a reply or pull up a posting. I simply try later and that has never failed.

Why in the world has this message been resurrected, the original post was in mid-January.

Glad questions keep popping from long ago. I just read a one year old question about the best chateaux in Loire that someone responded to today! You know what? I never saw this posting when I did searches on Loire Valley and was glad to read it. Cut out and pasted to my Loire file for our upcomming trip there.

I enjoy the Forum. The only frustration is that when you post a reply to a French forum for example, you have to punch in for France again rather than just go to the next message for France and start all over. Unless I am missing something. Fodor take note.

Sheila Jul 25th, 1999 11:22 AM

Thomas
If you use the search facility for France, it will list threads for you and you can pick them off the listing

Dave Jul 25th, 1999 11:22 AM

Thomas,

There is no "France" forum as such. There is a "Europe" forum, and a "United States" forum, but the individual countries or states are just keywords for the search engine. (To expect a separate forum for each country in the world, or each state in the US, is perhaps a bit much to ask from Fodors.)

Sheila Jul 25th, 1999 12:27 PM

Thomas

If you look ath the top of the right side of the page you will see three boxes. The left one lets you type in anything you want to search for it. The middle one lets you pick a country; and the right on says "FIND". If, having completed one of the other two, you click on the right one, it will do a search for you in this Forum and list the threads containing what you are searching for in the left hand side.

Paulette May 7th, 2000 03:16 PM

I hope I am not the only one out there but I have not had any problems either accessing your website or getting responses back. My husband and I have used the forum site in planning our 4 trips to Europe. The advice has been so valuable to us. I want to thank everyone who responds with their imput and suggestions it is appreciated immensely.THANK YOU FODOR'S for the help......

I think the site is GREAT!!!!! I only wish it had been here for my previous trips. And btw, if you think it's loaded now, it's gonna get worse. It was picked as the best site in it's catagory by Forbes mmagazine. I haven't had ANY problem with connecting, posting responses or downloading pages...and no, I don't have xDSL, cable, ISDN or a T-1. Just reading all the Greek stuff has brought back many memories and rekindled my desire to go back...or go ANYWHERE!!!!

Steve the Guide May 28th, 2000 12:37 PM

This Forum is very good in my opinion because all the people are serius. But sometimes I have had connection problems, this year like two/three years ago.

lin gitterman Jun 6th, 2000 04:43 AM

It also drives me crazy but only because I love the forum so much that I don't do my work so that I can surf here!! It's the best

Hillary Jun 8th, 2000 05:17 PM

Ungratefull is not the word. You should go play in the park all by yourself. Maybe then you will have a perfect day.

I am relatively new to this site but I'm so happy that it's here. Obviously so are lots of other people looking for advice. They are asking intelligent questions and getting very important information in return.

You shouldn't just be satisfied with it because it is free, because if it's not done right it's not worth doing, but you should be satisfied that it's here because it could possibly help you. That's all it is here to do. If you've been using, or trying to use it for at least a year then you obviously need it. If the site tripped up back then, or even now, so what. Which web site doesn't.

As much as the content of your message is ridiculous you have accomplished something. Your original message was on 1/14/99 and you have managed to get other people to object to you and let Fodors know just how gratefull we all are that they are here. Even after 1 1/2 years after your original posting.

If you are such a perfectionist then find what "you consider" a first rate service to help you and maybe then you will be satisfied. You can really have a glorious experience if they charge you by the hour. Happy travels.

Delores Jul 9th, 2000 09:56 AM

If you don't like the service, don't use it. I think they are doing a great job. Was in Ireland June 4 for 2 weeks. Found postings very helpful.
anniel Jul 9th, 2000 01:42 PM

Just thought I would write to say that
Fodors is the best forum that I visit.
I never cease to be amazed at the amount of expertise writers demonstrate.
Most of you are from the USA and I am humbled by the depth of knowledge that people have about the UK and on my hometown, London. I sometimes think I will be able to help on questions about the UK but generally those who respond know more than I do. I just wanted to record my appreciation of this site and of the people who are members of it. I find it most addictive and learn something every day. I just wish there was a UK forum which was anywhere as good. Sorry some people find it slow to access but it is worth the wait!

joel Jul 9th, 2000 04:08 PM

Great site. Zero problems. End of issue...for me.
Sarah Jul 13th, 2000 03:52 PM

This is one of most helpful travel sites and its FREE too, I have ever encountered through the internet. I have NO complaints, even if sometimes its slow. All the postings and replies are very interesting to read. It is very convient for me to look through Fodor's forum than going to the book store. Everyone who uses this forum(site) are very helpful and sincere, execept few twisted people.

I LOVE THIS SITE.

Thyra Jul 13th, 2000 04:20 PM

Actually I love this site 99% of the time, however lately it seems that people's long-awaited trip reports are not posting past the headers? Has anyone else noticed this? Side note to Anniel, don't feel too sad, I live and work in Hollywood and find myself utterly useless on the USA/California forum. I guess natives just don't pay attention to a lot of things that matter to tourists, for instance I have never had to look for a budget hotel in Los Angeles etc. I for one apprecaite any info.

pawrona Jul 14th, 2000 09:09 AM

This site is driving me nuts because I can't ever find my prior postings to see if people have responded. Unless you are online when the site e mails you notice that there is a first response, forget it. You search by the title of your post, and you can't find it; you page back over days and days of of postings, you can't find it, and I am getting very frustrated. Does anyone have the answer to this? I love the site for browsing in every other way, but for a real question, that you need answers to, you want to be able to find your question again.
