I disagree with your interpretation of those stories, Elle, and how they played out. I believe you are putting your own spin on them. I am not going to argue anymore on the subject. I stated my opinion of Coulter and Fox News. It stands.

Interesting article on rating the cable news networks http://www.insightmag.com/news/2004/...t-621151.shtml

I provided no interpretation--simply the references to her book and other sources for comparison.

I'll post more examples later, if this thread still exists then, but right now I'm off to see a movie about a corrupt family and the personification of evil--"He-Who-Will-Not-Be-Named".

elle;Let us know what you think of the "fair& balanced" views of MM. the ultimate America basher.

sunstar Jul 18th, 2004 03:55 PM

Walter, I checked out that web site.

If anyone that travels to Europe has ever seen CNN Europe, then you will know that CNN Europe tends to air anti Bush content. I once heard Jonathon Mann say: "Anyone who would launch a war against Iraq was mad".

Seeing CNN gush all over those UN Birds such as Kofey Anannaon turned my stomach as well.

Fox news connects with America.

Other than Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and a few other talk radio outlets, the alternative view rarely gets out. Certainly not with ABC, CNN, NBC, PMSNBC and NPR.

Since when has Bush-bashing equated to America-bashing? Michael Moore is certainly a polemicist, and he may have his faults (although not nearly so many as the current "shoot the messsenger" character-assassination campaign would have us believe), but he strikes me as a deeply patriotic American. Patriotism is not the sole preserve of the Right.

What? WHAT?? Am I hearing this correctly???

MM is a patriotic American????

::::snicker::::::

snicker:::::::::

Hah hah hah hah

BWHAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAA

Sun( ROTLMAO @ MM being a patriot :)) :)) ) Star :)) :)) :))

mgmargate Jul 18th, 2004 04:17 PM

OZ: All you have to hear are MM's quotes in the foreign press bashing Americans not just Bush.He is a Traitor and does not deserve to be a citizen of this great country.

Leelani Jul 18th, 2004 04:35 PM

Patriot: one who loves his or her country and supports its authority and interests (Merriam-Webster)

MICHAEL MOORE IS ONE OF THESE???

I DON'T THINK SO!

lyb Jul 18th, 2004 04:43 PM

I would have no trouble with Michael Moore if he didn't just criticize but also come up with solutions? As the old saying goes, "if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem." By the way, I didn't vote for Bush and still won't, so it's not that Michael Moore bashes Bush, is that he only points out the faults of everyone without any solution. Also, if he was doing all his criticizing just to be a good citizen as he sometimes tries to portray, he'd charge nothing or barely anything for his movies, and/or donate all the profits. Somehow, I don't thinks he does!

Don't Let The Bastards (Get You Down)
by Kris Kristofferson

They're killing babies in the name of freedom.
We've been down that sorry road before.
They let us hang around a little longer than they should've.
It's too late to fool us anymore.

We've seen the ones, who killed the ones with vision,
Cold blooded murder right before your eyes
Today they hold the power, and the money, and the guns.
It's getting hard to listen to their lies.

I just gotta wonder what my daddy would've done,
If he'd seen the way they turned his dream around.
I've gotta go by what he told me:
"Try to tell the truth and stand your ground.
Don't let the bastards get you down."

robbiegirl Jul 18th, 2004 05:29 PM

This is another down with MM and his movie. I will not go see it either. Doesnt matter which way I would vote. I do not want to pay a price for him to make money on an opinion.

sunstar Jul 18th, 2004 05:34 PM

Yeah, Sadam Hussaine was killing children. I guess you missed that part huh? I figured as much.

I guess you missed the part where small children were tortured as their parents looked on in horror.

Most professional people in Iraq made the whopping total of about 5 bucks a week one year ago. I bet Professional people in Iraq make more now. Yah think?? I guess yah missed that part huh?

They have found components of WMDs. Even some in limited supplies of siren gas. I guess you missed that part huh?

You seemed to miss a lot.

What was the point of quoting the lyrics to that song? To bring some kind of moral indictment against Bush or the US Military?

I do not get what the point was. Unless, it was yet another attempt to discredit Bush and the Military.

How about the terrorist training camps that they found in Northern Iraq. Alqueida trained there. You have heard of Alqueida? They murdered 3,000 plus innocent men, women and children on 9/11. You have heard of them have you not?

I dunno folks, wake up and see what is going on.

This thread started out about an event that happened on a domestic flight. Now it has turned into Bush trashing event by some in here.

I'm going to bring it back into a travel contex again. I think Bush has done what neeeded to be done in prosecuting this war on terorism.

I think the world is safer than it was 3 years ago. Not that everything is perfect, but 75% of Alqeuida is either dead or on on the run. The Taliban, who gave a hearty welcome to killers and thugs, has been dismantled in Afganastan.

Other terrorist ties with Iraq and others have now taken a serious hit.

What is the result? Safer travel for every one of you all.

cigalechanta Jul 18th, 2004 05:46 PM

hmm, madame croque, I think I'll buy that CD.

lyb Jul 18th, 2004 05:48 PM

Really? Umm....okay...if you say so... of course, the fact that Americans are so much more loved and respected all over the world than they were before???????????????

cher_cher Jul 18th, 2004 05:54 PM

"What is the result? Safer travel for every one of you all."

OK, I know this site is travel-related, but this is just ridiculous.

Who the hell cares? I do not!!

Doing the right thing is often times an unpopular endeavor.

By eliminating much of the terrorist threat in terms of financial and especially terrorist manpower, those actions have made the world safer place.

Even though there were some European countries that did not support the war in Iraq, I am grateful that they have stepped up their anti terrorist actions in their respective countries.

Quoting me some song about killing babies, well, I just do not get point of that, unless it is to prove that some folks have their heads stuck in the sand. #-o
