I follow Gabriel Traveller on YouTube and he is in Greece. He says you have to fill out a PLF and get a QR Code before entering Greece.

What is a PLF and where do you get a QR code before entering Greece? I have a friend who is going to Greece in August, and I am not sure she is aware of this.

Here is the link that contains the information she needs as well as the form to complete before arriving in Greece (PLF-Passenger Locator Form): https://travel.gov.gr/#/

She will receive the QR code in her email the day she is arriving in Greece. Tell her to have it ready on her phone.

cafegoddess, thank you! I will pass this information on to my friend. I wonder if all European countries require the PLF? We are flying TAP to France in August and change planes in Lisbon. In my travel folder, I have a note to myself that we have to complete a Passenger Locator Card online after checking in online. I got this information from TAP. It's to trace passengers who may have been exposed to COVID.

Thanks for taking the time to share your beautiful stunning photos. Plans for us are for early Sept. and hopefully cruises ships will not be in full force. We are 70 years young and have avoided Santorini due to the honeymooners and crowds and this might be our only chance to enjoy the vistas without all the crowds.
So happy for you for a having a wonderful vacay!

Good luck in Rodos. My wedding ring, from Ilias Lalaounis, was bought in Rodos. We stayed 5 nights, 2 nights too many. Hotel Rodos Park was very nice, but I found Rodos boring after 2 days. I am not a pool/beach person.

I don't think I would like wearing a mask outside in that hot Greek sun.

You are welcome and thank you. I booked our flights to Greece has soon as I read that country was opening, we knew it will be empty. I don’t think we would have enjoyed it as much if it was crowded.

I think it will be lovely in September. Have a wonderful time.

I went to Santorini a few years ago in July.

I didn't think it was too crowded. There were stretches of that walk from Oia to Fira which were pretty deserted.

I also visited Mykonos and Chania and spent a couple of nights in Athens on that trip. The flights and hydrofoils between the islands weren't that bad.

The one crowded thing was one of those boat tours to the volcano in Santorini. They loaded them up and the one I was in, it was packed. In fact I suspect beyond capacity, as the boat seemed to weigh into the waterline.

How beautiful! Be sure to go see this miracle!

OMG - Your pictures are spectacular! They bring back so many wonderful memories of our first trip there 20 years ago and make me want to go back again!
Have a great time in Rhodes - we liked it and found lots of interesting things to see - the old city, the Colossus, the Acropolis at Lindos, the ancient stadium and all the beautiful beaches.

I've read reports that Santorini is beautiful to look at from a distance but not so pretty once you're in it. I'm wondering if that's true.

That will depend on your definition of beautiful. The views and the architecture are fantastic. The timeless villages, especially Oia, are well-worth the time it takes to explore. Amoudi Bay below Oia is great for seafood as well as for swimming at the end of the seawall that begins on the wharf.

I'm not sure what they means. If it's hot and crowded, maybe that could be true.
We were there in September, when it was perfect.
Walking the path around the caldera, taking a snorkel boat tour, dining overlooking the gorgeous views. . .. All heavenly.

The only place that you could look at Santorini from a distance would be the hydrofoil that you arrive on or maybe a flight or maybe from the volcanic island in the middle of the caldera.

You can take a boat tour to go on the volcanic island and the views of Santorini are beautiful, as you see the layer of white houses all along the top of the cliffs of the caldera.

But you're obviously going to be in Santorini to take the boat tour so you would get both views from a distance and from within Santorini.

We flew in and out so I do not know what Santorini looks like from a distance but we stayed in Oia for 4 nights in May and I agree with brotherleelove2004 and MoBro - it was perfect. Oia itself was nice and the views from there were outstanding. I know everyone has their own idea of what is pretty but I can't imagine thinking it is "not so pretty once you're in it". These can't compete with the pics from cafegoddess but here is a link to a few pics from our visit.
