Santorini and Mykonos are on our list of possibilities for Sept.

Were you there recently and if so what are the Covid restrictions like. What test did you need, along with shots, to enter Greece, and did people wear masks or not?

We just got in to Santorini today. As long as you are vaccinated you are good to go. Negative test is also accepted but inconvenience if you are island hopping.
If you have to transit in Germany, you will need a negative test or your vaccination card. Mask is mandatory inside and out. Here is the link for the form you will have to complete and submit before leaving the US. https://travel.gov.gr/#/

Lovely photos, cafegoddess! Gorgeous place, isn’t it? We really loved the walk between Oia and Fira along the caldera and sitting by and swimming in Amoudi bay. It’s a stunning place.

Still, it is so strange to see it so empty of people!

Do they check vaccination card or negative test for fights or ferries within Greece?

Are they running the boat tours? They seem to get packed so I wonder what they're like now.

Yes, they check for vaccination cards or negative test. I don’t know anything about the ferries, we are flying between islands.

Well I may have to change my plans to fly to Barcelona in about 3 weeks because the EU is equivocating about allowing in Americans without reciprocity from the US allowing in EU tourists.

So maybe a revisit of Greece is in order.

progol thank you, it is gorgeous! I am trying to convince my husband to take that walk between Oia and Fira.

An option if you don't want to walk all the way to Oia is walk from Fira to Imerovigli and hop on the bus to Oia.

We will be in Santorini for 6 more days, then heading to Rhodes for 9 days. We are celebrating two special occasions birthday (mine)and our wedding anniversary.

We feel lucky being here. No crowds at all. Our waiter told us that most of the people in Santorini are vaccinated. I don’t know how true that statement.

Tomorrow my quest to fine a really good baklava will continue.

Stunning photos! I used to carry a bulky SLR or a high end point & shoot. The iPhone cameras are so good I now leave my cameras at home except when I need a long range telephoto lens. They say the best camera is the one you have with you.

Gorgeous photos! The first photo looks like it's overlooking where we stayed...but then those whitewashed cave rooms tend to look alike. I LOVED staying in Oia. Hope to go back (relatively) soon.

What vaccination card are you showing? Is it the white paper CDC card? I am very confused about "vaccination certificate."

The card they gave me when I got vaccinated. It has the CDC logo on the corner, plus the dates I received my shots.

Every one of your gorgeous photos belong in a magazine. My favorite is the stunning pinky/purple dusk scene. Santorini is so blue and white lovely which makes the dusk

Thank you for the specific information about the vaccination certificate. I just looked at mine again, and it does have the CDC logo in the upper right-hand corner. It is the white paper card they gave us when we got vaccinated.

My husband just read an article in Travel and Leisure about the European digital certificate. Seven countries have signed up for it to date. The EU Commission is in talks with the US to create a digital certificate, which might be in place before we go to France in August. But I will still bring my paper certificate as a back-up. I don't like to rely solely on digital/cell phone documents. Never know when your phone will go dead or can't get a signal, etc.
