I absolutely love that video, Scarlett! What is it about it...I dunno. It's happy--it makes me smile on a miserable rainy day as I sit in my little casita, by myself, my DH half way across the country, and a ton of solo work ahead of me in preparation for our move...so if it breaks through that gloom it has some pretty strong positive vibes!!!

The Today Show featured the video and then had the Romanian Band on singing the song (this time in English) in the Plaza this week. Everyone agreed, the beat is contagious and you can't help but smile when watching the guy from NJ!

I saw his video on the Today Show and loved it. I thought he was great. I kept humming the song all day.

I just read the New York Times article and was surprised to read that he is not happy with all the attention. It says he mopes around the house. Of course I have not idea what it would be like to be swamped with reporters. But, I just thought he was thrilled with it all. Anyway, I now feel badly for him, but suppose it should all calm down for him soon and hopefully his life will get back to normal.

How sad that this young man is unhappy as his video is wonderful! I enjoyed it so much. I did not know the language was in Romanian though. That is interesting.

Hi, fun to bring this thread up again. I love it too, forgot about it although it had been emailed to me. Sure makes one bounce around.

My daughter and her friends at college love the Romanian group that sings this song. They have learned the words to this and about 6 other songs (phonetically, of course) and sing along enthusiastically. We got VERY tired of hearing it the last time she was home! The group has a music video available on the internet, but I like watching this kid alot better. If actual musicians were as good as he is at lipsynching . . .

This song, &quot;Dragostea Din Tei&quot; was the number one song in France and Belgium last summer. I heard it on the radio in Belgium, and went to a music store and bought a cd that featured it along with others, a compilation if you will.
If you want to order the cd, it is called: Night Life Party 2, Scorpio Music.
The song in question is listed as being done by &quot;Haiducii vs Gabry Pont&quot;.

Which band did the song in the video everyone's watched? O'Zone or Haducii (sp). Was it the animated video? If it was O'Zone, although they're based in Romania, the band members say they're Moldovans.
It was a catchy tune and I loved the animated video. There are some catchy European videos that should be shown more in the U.S. A couple of years ago, we saw a lot of the German video &quot;Guten Tag&quot; that was low budget, but really snappy.

Also, re the NYTimes, is anyone else disappointed that you can no longer email the entire text of articles, only the link? Of course, you can cut and paste the text into a separate email. But I miss the old method. I have a few hundred articles I've emailed to myself and others over time--a great resource of travel and other info.

I'm interested to see this has now hit the mainstream papers (even without checking out the link I can guess what you're talking about).

If you like that sort of thing, of course, it's not that long to go to the next Eurovision Song Contest - and you should be able to see and hear the songs in all their ....special characteristics... on the internet.

OH, my God. Eurovision! We were once in Helsinki and the two main choices on TV were a Finnish national accordian contest and the televising of Eurovision. I don't think I've ever been so &quot;entertained&quot; by television in my life!

Patrick London and Patrick, the &quot;real&quot; Eurovision might be difficult to watch, but remember that that contest is where the entire Riverdance show was born. Our kids were in Irish dancing for years and no one had any idea what it was until Riverdance hit the stage. I admit that I could watch that show any number of times (and have, all over) without tiring of it. I have a lot to thank Eurovision for! (And DEFINITELY realize that puts me in the MINORITY!)

LoveItaly, I just wish you could see these girls dancing about to happy, upbeat music with lyrics they can't understand. It really does make you smile. But as with all kids that age, five minutes later she wants to discuss politics (on an incredibly superficial level), inform you that she never plans to get married or have children, and when you compliment a pair of jeans that look new she arily says that she bought them for a dollar from a girl down the hall &quot;who joined a cult, or something, that only lets her wear dresses and she sold all her clothes.&quot; And then she's gone until the next visit.

This was a huge hit in Europe last summer; I'm sure it must be on Itunes or somewhere.
I showed the video to my kids and told them I would put them on internet while singing to the Playstation Singstar. That would mortify them! Great threat to keep up my sleeve I think.

I was in Spain last summer and this song was all over the radio...a huge hit. Even though nobody understood the words at all, the song was just too catchy to ignore. I wish foreign songs like this could get some airplay in the USA!

Oh kswl, as usual I love your stories about your children. And you know, I am sure, I especially love them as I can so relate thanks to a daughter, stepchildren and grandchildren.

Now about my 14 year old grandson and his hormonal stages - oh nevermind, LOL, nothing to do with travel except he sure makes his Mom want to run to the airport and jump on any plane going anywhere for a week. Am sure you and a lot of others can relate! Take good care.

Cassandra, I have also looked on the net, and at Amazon for the original CD by the group. What I have is a compilation of various songs by various artists, among them is the group in question. The liner notes, because of the compilation aspects, are just listings of the song, artist, time.
However, if you Google Haiducii, up comes this site...let it load and then click on Lyrics and then... &quot;Rumeno&quot; for the original Romanian lyrics and then &quot;English&quot; for the interpretation of the lyrics if you desire:
