And there's not a choice of Luggage Class ? I feel deceived !!!
|
LOL at you three.
|
Maybe they'll start charging for the air we breathe while we're in flight!
|
Personally, I think someone should come up with an option called "NightFlight" and have it be a bunch of bunks you can get into and sleep overnight to Europe...no frills and not a lot of money.
Of course, the "oooey-gooey" folks would turn up their nose but if they want to pay more fine with me. |
Lets look at the bright side...where is it? Ah...here it is -
1. no one kicking back of your seat 2. no one reclining during your meal intake 3. you don't have to wrestle for the middle armrest Anyone else? So will be first class strapped to a leather stands? So many questions and no one to answer them... |
goggle "jon stewart" and click on "comedy central" and click on "headlines"...he had some things to say about this last night LOL
|
artlover--
I got to Jon Stewart and Comedy Central, but couldn't find it...is it under web-headlines on the left? I looked under a few of those sub-topics. |
Just click on the most recent one with his picture.
|
Thanks, artlover--found it. Here's the link if anyone wants to see the video; be patient, takes a minute to load.
http://www.comedycentral.com/motherl...list=&lnk= Sue_xx_yy -- it reminded Jon Stewart of Hannibal Lecter, too! |
Hey WHAT is up with Fodors tonight? I didn't mean to post twice. The first time I clicked "post my reply" nothing came up! aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!
|
JAGirl, I don't think you posted twice, so no worries :D
I'm assuming there will still be kicking the backs of the standing boards as I imagine they'll try to fit as much into steerage as possible. Will the boards recline into the faces of the people behind you? And what about the tall people? Will persons of length pay more? Will the vertically challenged pay less? :O |
boards ??? too much luxury !!!
|
mcnyc--
It's only fair for those of us who are vertically challenged to pay less, because they'll be able to put luggage racks over our heads...or maybe they'll just stack 2 of us together. |
There was a clip on France2 the other night about how a French engineer is redesigning airline seats to make them lighter in weight. It said the cost of airplane fuel had gone up seven times since 1999 and if they could find a way to make the seats smaller and lighter and could fit 30-45 more seats on a typical flight they could counteract the rising airfare prices. So this engineer is making new airline seats that are 5 kilos less in weight than the current ones. Can you een begin to imagine how much worse flying in coach will be? Maybe standing up will be preferable. At least you can exercise and do stretches.
|
Please, help.
Can someone post John Steward sentence so people who can't see the video don't feel excluded? Thanksyouverymuch... Seriously I was a standing up comic myself telling my family all in this thread and you should see how much fun we had had yelling at each other something like 'YOU are an idiot! Ofcourse they can do that! Look at this moron...no one will approve such desicion' - so to speak we had nice fun family dinner with Fodors in mind... |
OK, I will continue...while having family fun yesterday I had noticed that if my mom who was sitting next to me will stand up it will free some space but not so much to rave about. And she is very small.
I was thinking of people like my husband who will need MORE space standing up because of the belly size... Huh? Ever though about it? And to be serious again...I do NOT believe that planes are leaving airports 100% packed. There is plenty of seats on almost every and each plane. So what are they freeing space for? For more empty seats(or stands). I am still thinking it MUST be a joke...is it? |
Ziana, here's what Jon Stewart said:
Airbus is considering adding standing-room-only seats to their planes to maximize the number of passengers. Basically, you’d be in, like, a padded board with a harness, and thank God, because if I have ever had one complaint about air travel, it’s always been this: it’s far too comfortable. . . . I’ve written this in their suggestion boxes and I’m glad to see they’re finally taking me seriously: If there’s anyway that I could fly in the same way that Hannibal Lecter is transported between prisons on a board and strapped in . . . ah, so great job, Airbus, for making your plane travel experience much more like the tray tables’ experience as well-- to actually be folded up and down . . .wow. |
Jon Stewart's been lurking on Fodors Forums! =P~ |
Thanks! If John was lurking it was done in Coach class from First class and he truthfully told us 'it was way too comfortable' - he didn't mean to laugh! I love the guy...
|
Sorry. Keith Olbermann did the Hannibal tie-in on Monday.
