Yeah, Dave_in_Paris, they ought to treat the cattle at least as good as the chickens.

Ziana Apr 26th, 2006 07:11 AM

FAINA!!!!!!!!
TAHNKS! ID DID CRY...it was hillarious!

kswl Apr 26th, 2006 07:19 AM

Perhaps for a short commuter hop if I had a meeting or event to attend emergently, but not as a regular or money-saving method of travel.

What if the standing-room passenger gets sick? Are they in any more danger from turbulence or landing problems? With the current litigious nature of life in these United States, I can't see the FAA going for it.

JAGIRL Apr 26th, 2006 08:44 AM

If he gets sick, I'd rather be standing next to a standing "seat" passenger than sitting next to him.
:O

RobinBinNYC Apr 26th, 2006 09:21 AM

MAYBE if they set up a bar right in front of the standing area, I'd go for it :o)

Guy18 Apr 26th, 2006 09:30 AM

What about lying us flat on shelves, one above the other, five people deep? Or better yet in drawers. With the proper cushioning and ventilation, I might prefer it to sitting.

Sue_xx_yy Apr 26th, 2006 09:37 AM

Why am I moved to think of Hannibal Lecter in "Silence of the lambs". Remember that hand-truck thing they had him strapped into at one point?

JAGIRL Apr 26th, 2006 09:46 AM

You know...some of you people really should consider working in the airline industry! You all are coming up with excellent cost cutting ideas! That stacking one is by far the best utilization of space idea!

Maybe we should copyright all the ideas in this thread!

Maire Apr 26th, 2006 10:00 AM

Sue - great visual! I'm laughing at the image of all of us being lined up on hand-trucks. The airline could line us up, and give a big shove to get us down the aisle to the cattle-car section. It would provide free entertainment to the seated passengers who will now be paying $2,000 for a one-way ticket.

kswl Apr 26th, 2006 10:00 AM

LOL---love the bar idea, how about a drink strapped to your hand as well?? :D

nina Apr 26th, 2006 10:15 AM

Oh come on, this idea is so unoriginal, it's been around for ages...

http://www.nuevarevista.net/2004/dic.../steichen4.jpg

I like the idea of stacking though, they could even consider rotating everyone occasionally, like the rotisserie at the grocery store.

JAGIRL Apr 26th, 2006 10:21 AM

yeah...and could add a tanning light too!
The catch line could be "Pre-Tan in for the islands!"

Ziana Apr 26th, 2006 11:15 AM

Guy18...it was too funny, I almost got fired from my job!
I hope it will be FREE pre-island tanning or else...

JAGIRL Apr 26th, 2006 11:29 AM

oh...well...there's something else to consider now. Should it be free or will they use it as another way to make money?

So now we'll have the tanning standing section and the non tanning section.
;;)

moldyhotelsaregross Apr 26th, 2006 01:25 PM

Where will they store my floatation device if I'm not sitting on my seat cushion?

Looks like I have to put "floaties" on my next packing list!

Robespierre Apr 26th, 2006 01:29 PM

Can I have one of those for the kid behind me kicking the back of my seat?

Madison Apr 26th, 2006 01:43 PM

Moldy - Floatation devices will be extra.

Maire Apr 26th, 2006 01:58 PM

Nina - lol at picture, but those people could move around

nina Apr 26th, 2006 02:27 PM

Maire,
I know, who would believe that the marketing geniuses could come up with more uncomfortable travel than turn of the century steerage...

Scarlett Apr 26th, 2006 02:44 PM

When I told the Yankee about this, he said that when you buy your tickets, you will be given a choice of First Class, Business Class, Coach or No Class
