I remember my first flight on Air France when the ticket agent asked, "Sir, would you like Smoking or Heavy Smoking"<BR><BR>(An old George Carlin joke)

Was in Venice in February and regional trains are now non smoking. Also lots of Restaurants now do not allow smoking. Italy was supposed to be bringing in anti smoking laws at the end of March.

As a recent quitter of smoking...I understand your plight. I also, however, support smokers rights. As they say...."When in Rome"....not saying you should learn to smoke; just suggesting you accept it as a cultural difference.

There is NO smoking policy in europe, they smoke like chimneys and don't even think about asking someone to put it out, that is simply not done....

How does a 4 year-old post get revived?

Let's ponder it :<BR><BR>-An habbit which sents dozens of thousands of people to the hospital or to the cemetary each year...<BR><BR>-Which seriously agravate the condition of people with repiratory issues, in particular asthma and threaten the health of babies and old people...<BR><BR>-Which costs an incredible amount of money each year in medical care for its victims....<BR><BR>-Which force other people who don't have this habbit to nevertheless have to endure the stench which result from it...<BR><BR>In the name of all people who don't have this disgusting habbit, I make this solemn call :<BR><BR><BR>Stop using your car, insensitive jerks!!!

Having read a lot of the posts here, I've noticed that some tend to see Europe as one homogenic culture. This is of course, not the case. I don't know about central and eastern Europe, but in Scandinavian countries smoking is almost as unpopular as in the US. In fact, Norway just passed a law banning smoking in bars and clubs - apparently the strictest law on smoking on the continent...

To answer your question as stated..<BR><BR>There is no policy!!<BR><BR>It is a free union of nations ..who do not need a big brother looking over their shoulders like in the US. They make their own decisions .
