Well Rex, lets take another poll, lol.

Do husbands that don't mind their wives taking a solo trip agree to the trip so that they can "scratch their itch" while their wife is on her trip????

Thank heavens in my family their is trust and love. And so far so good.

I had failed to notice that this thread is mostly two years old - - so I feel a little bit redfaced about my posting. Obviously, I haven't seen this topped more than a few times, lately...

We've traveled to Europe several times as a family. We were in Italy for 3 weeks last summer -- our kids (now teens) had a great time and were very independent much of the time. But I'm now planning a solo spring trip to Paris. I've been there twice, but like a previous post, I can easily see myself spending most of a day at the Louvre and the Orsay. I'm also really looking forward to dining if, when and where I want, and not having to survey the group before every meal. And if my idea of a great evening is a bottle of wine, a take-out salad and a long bath with my Paris guidebook that's what I'll do. I may finally feel like I've really experienced Paris.

By the way, any recommendations for casual bistros for the solo "mature" woman?

I went to Florence for 2 weeks last year to visit my BF. Left the hubby and 2 kidlets behind (they were 5 and 3 at the time).

Had a wonderful time! Spent time with my friend, spent time by myself. So liberating to be able to wander with no plans...sit with no plans..

Took the hubby over this time (just getting my log up now), and we had a great time...but there were times (he, he) when I wish I could have just been on my own for a little bit.

Recommend just finding a great little cafe, bar, to sit at..people watch, write in your journal, and soak it all in.

It is SO different travelling with/without friends and hubbies. I strongly recommend it!!! Thinking about how I can "escape" on another trip by myself....maybe Paris?

Have a great time!
