Stunning! I have a trip planned to travel to Provence next year and I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

SSander, We were in Uzes in 2012. I have a massive copy of the hat shop above on our landing on the way upstairs.

zebec Aug 21st, 2020 02:51 PM

Yo Meyer and also Ssander, we instantly recognized both of your shots of the above Uzes clothing shop. It is a measure of the season when those fine photos were taken, to observe the kinds of hats and other clothing on display. Our same same shots showed an assortment of fall/winter apparel. I recall that above shop being just down from the Medieval Jardin. Btw, our rental was nearby on Theodorit, directly across from the so-called 'Ancient Greek Fountain.'
For those who haven't yet been, Uzes makes a fantastic base for that area.

I am done. The photos of France.

That haircut, just before the Aix photos: horrible

Myer Aug 22nd, 2020 07:24 AM

Horrible? I guess you can't win 'em all.

Zebec,
I really like your selection and composition. Very good!!!

Myer Aug 22nd, 2020 04:42 PM

Instead of my photos I'll post a couple of dozen one of my granddaughters took in Paris when she was 8 or 9.

Enjoy.

Myer, she was only eight or nine?! Wow. Not bad for a child. I used to run our school's Camera Club, called the Shutterbugs. Our youngest members were aged 9, but few of them could've matched your granddaughter's quality shown here.

A Tale of Two Tech issues: my LightRoom files just tonight suddenly allowed the above images in #347 to suddenly be uploaded. Those very same images would always fail to upload here in the past few months. An orange-coloured box with 'ALERT' would always appear after the percentage of uploading reached a 50% figure. Why the sudden allowance to be shown? I have absolutely no clue.

Secondly, we are struggling to finally arrange for our inherited Nikon Coolscanner to be installed and operate. I'm totally dependent on Mrs Z in that regard---she is the tech brains of the outfit and I lag far behind her (and most of the planet too----editor). Our issue has to do with software. I have a previously-amassed shitload of highlight negatives from all continents ready to scan, while Mrs Z has a similar collection of slides to process.

Btw, she too hails from Montreal.
Fingers crossed.

I am done. The visual imagery.

Zebec,
I have photos of that granddaughter in a car seat taking pictures.
When she was 7 I took my daughter and this granddaughter (total of 3 granddaughters) to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons and she took quite a few shots. But they might not fit in with France.
She has a great eye. However, as she gets older (she's 13 now) her interests have strayed from photography to playing hockey. Yes, here in South Florida. A broken ankle and broken foot during PT for the broken ankle haven't stopped her. But photography has taken a back seat. I managed to get her out pre Covid and she got some great motocross photos.
I'll post more of her France photos later today.
Just for info purposes. For serious photography she doesn't use a cell phone nor does she have a kids camera. She has a DSLR camera and I gave her a telephoto lens.

ssander Aug 23rd, 2020 10:15 AM

Love 'em all...great photos, everyone!
ssander

Here is the second batch of my granddaughter's photos taken in France when she was 8 or 9.

I always have trouble getting her to use a regular lens. She loves using the telephoto lens. When they got back from the trip I was looking at her photos and noticed something interesting. Most were taken with the telephoto lens but one in the middle was taken with the regular lens. So I called my daughter and asked her about it. She remembered that they were on top of the Arc de Triomphe and granddaughter asked her to change lenses. After she took a photo my daughter asked by she wanted to switch lenses. She said she wanted to get the Eiffel Tower and the street to the right in the photo. I was really impressed with that!!

Extremely impressive by any measure, but for a child? Jayzus.
Hope that her passions continue. Such an ability to learn new skills will serve her well.

I am done. The pictures.

ssander Aug 24th, 2020 01:53 AM

Myer...that girl has real talent.
ssander

Myer Aug 24th, 2020 05:20 AM

Zebec & ssander,

Thanks.
I'd tell her what you said but she may give me an ear full if I tell her I posted them.
I'll decide later. She's in virtual school all day so I have until evening to decide.
I'll post a final group of her France photos later later today.

Myer Aug 24th, 2020 05:28 AM

I found a few of her when she was about 4
Obviously before she could hold a DSLR camera.

Coquelicot Aug 24th, 2020 05:45 AM

Myer, you started her early. I can see her scoping out her next shot in your first photo.

How she feels about your sharing her photos may depend on her age!

Please tell her we were impressed with her photography skills and really enjoyed the subjects she chose to photograph.

Myer Aug 24th, 2020 06:19 AM

Coquelicot,
Thanks.
That first photo was at Yosemite.
Some of the photos she took I never would. She has one in Grand Tetons of a nail in a piece of old wood. Not France though.

gooster Aug 24th, 2020 12:22 PM

@Myer, the photos from your granddaughter are wonderful. I hope she regains the interest later on.
