This is the last group of photos my granddaughter took in France (mostly Paris).
The couple looking at each other and the two of the girl in the salmon sweater are several tables away from her in a restaurant.

She is great! The apple didn't fall far from the tree.

I haven't told her yet that I posted them.

This photo was taken about 45 years ago.

We went to the Louvre and this room was closed for renovation.
I stepped into the doorway took the photo and just then there was a hand on my shoulder and I heard "ferme".

Obviously this was not a digital photo. I scanned a slide and did the best I could.

Nice pic of the louvre.

Coquelicot Aug 30th, 2020 01:08 PM

Beautiful light, and imagine seeing a room at the Louvre that empty. Which I guess is possible these days.

Quokka and Adelaidean,
Your Wissembourg came up in my most recent read, The Forgotten Soldier by Guy Sajer. Wissembourg was his hometown and the final scene where he returns home from the war, so unrecognizable that his own mother passes him on the street, is right out of a Hollywood movie, like everything else throughout this 1961 classic.

Ssander, your Pont du Gard shot is lovely. You caught the setting sun in each arch gap!

Isabel, wonder where your cute little crepe flipper is nowadays?

I am done. The end.

The annual Ganesha procession would have taken place yesterday in Paris if it had not been cancelled this year.

geetika Aug 31st, 2020 05:43 AM

Kerouac, all processions and groups festivities are cancelled in India too, as is the case the world over. Hopefully next year itíll all hit the reset button next year...

Zebec, great photos, as usual, from all over France. Where haven't you been?

I've seen the structure in your last photo on a friend's coffee table, but it was only 6" high.

Real Paris

Coquelicot Sep 7th, 2020 04:59 AM

Hmmm. I must be doing something wrong. When I take photos of a group of people, there's always at least one person glaring at me. I don't remember one glare in any of the photos in this thread. What's your secret?

kerouac Sep 8th, 2020 04:07 AM
in the basilica of Saint Denis which I had entirely to myself yesterday

zebec Sep 8th, 2020 10:59 AM

These are great shots: the above feet in St. Denis, and the earlier quartet row of ear, Sancerre bottle, lipstick smile, marshmallow-muncher et al.

I am done. The Cokin addict.

Life has not stopped in Paris due to the current situation even if we are far from normal. I was thrilled to attend a complete opera on Sunday at the new Parc Chapelle-Charbon where no standard touriist will ever set foot.
