Joan,

Don't you dare quit posting!!! I would never try to make you feel bad. I can't wait for your posts from Paris in December (but I am jealous :) )

Joan,
As I often say, sometimes you have to spend money in order to save money! Anyway, I always admire a woman who knows a good sale when she sees one. Of course, we'll enjoy all your winter posts. Bon voyage, once again. EJ ((#))

How true elsiejune!

I was up early, early this morning so I could call Daniel Rose in Paris. Daniel always answers the phone. We chatted about my e-mail that I had sent re the new place being open by April 24th for a little group to partake of his wonderful presentations! He said it might be close for that date. We will keep in touch about it. I then told him about this quick Dec. trip and what did he have for me. I have 4 seats for lunch on Friday Dec. 5th. I have an e-mail in to Catherine Constant to see if they wanted to join now, as April was when they had thought of joining in. Who knows, they may want the seats, in Dec!! They will definitely not be hard to fill!! Perhaps the best meal anyone could have for a Paris visit!!

Received my airport transportation confirmation overnight. They are only charging me 40 euros for this trip..each way, of course. What a bargain!!

Joan,
We're thinking of Spring for our May '09 trip....Do you know where the new restaurant will be located? Also, how far in advance to phone for lunch and/or dinner?
Merci, EJ

gracejoan3 Oct 31st, 2008 05:59 AM

elsiejune,

I went by the new location in Sept...a dingy little street called Bailleul..about 1 1/2 blocks long off rue du Louvre..near the Louvre-Rivoli Metro. Daniel will wake up the street.

I had sent him an e-mail asking if he thought it would be open for the 24th of April as I have some friends in town that weekend. He said it would be close, but we will keep in touch about that date. I will be there for another month, so will be OK for me.

Send Daniel an e-mail and tell him when you will be there and would like a reservation for dinner or lunch during that period of time at his new location. Ask him to send you an e-mail when he knows what his timetable will be.He will have 6 more covers. I would imagine that it will be very simple, as it now is.

I will pass on to him what I have told you when there on 12/5. I will be in Paris from 4/14 til 5/13. Might think about going to Spring at the same time....

Joan -- where is the running commentary on your last trip? I would love to read it (although I read ALL your posts on "Our Paris" forum!). Is Lilia our own Framboise? If so, lucky her -- you two will have a great time together -- kindred spirits I think.

luv/paree,

You are correct Lilia/Framboise!!

Here is the thread:
http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=35154778

You will find it fun reading, fun doing and many new friends were found. All were helpful and appreciative of one another and no criticisms...to me, just the way it should always be.

Guess I will start another for the Dec. dates and we will do it again.

I may have 2 seats for dining at Spring for lunch on Dec. 5th..will see..

Joan:

Sign me up for a GTG at Cafe Max!

gracejoan3 Oct 31st, 2008 09:33 AM

weekender,

Is that what you would like to do in December? What date? Closed on Sat/Sun. I guess you would need it to be Friday the 12th? How many in your party?

We can work on it and probably get a nice little group together.

The food is good, the place is bistrot funky and mainly French yuppies at night who do not begin to arrive til 9:00. Valdo can be charming and funny!

Looks like it must be Friday the 12th. Don't have a final count on my group as yet. We can give those yuppies a run for their money!

Joan,

Thanks for alerting me to this thread. It would be nice to have a GTG at Cafe Max on the 12th. I will try to get Megan to join us.

Weekender, are you going to be with a group of friends or will be by yourself?

Joy/Luvparee - yes, Joan and I will really have a grand time. It will be especially nice for me as it used to be my old 'hood for almost 5 years during "les annees quatre-vingt". It has changed some through the years. I missed meeting you in September - I was back home when you arrived!

Will keep in touch!

Lilia

I think we should start a new thread for Paris Dec 4 - Dec 15

I will start it and copy the GTG stuff to put on it..OK?

Hi Everyone, Yes...we are ParisPerfect fans also! We stayed in their Pomerol aptartment July 07. We loved the apartment and it's local. It was our first time to France and we were so lucky to have found ParisPerfect! I don't think I could ever go to Paris without staying in a PP apartment. The prices are a concern so I will check into the VRBO website. Thanks for the tip. Hope you have wonderful month in Paris.

gracejoan3 Nov 1st, 2008 06:48 AM

ptm

I will be in the Pomerol, Medoc and one unknown at the moment in Dec. Checking 3 of them out...Fun, fun, fun!

The new Moulin-a-Vent was great..not online, yet.

Do check the URL that I posted above someplace re the discounts for Fodorites.

You might want to join us in Dec...a new thread started for it. We already have some great plans in the works..I also have two very coveted seats for Spring restaurant..they may not last long!

Enjoy,

Joan

Thanks for the info, Joan. I'll look forward to dining at Spring in future. EJ ((#))

One has to wonder if graciejoan3 and elsiejeune aren't receiving some compensation from parispect....

framboise_et_rose Nov 4th, 2008 11:02 AM

lilliancroft - I know for sure that GraceJoan does not get compensation from PP. I hope she did - an upgrade from time to time and a discount for future stays that her friends can share as well.

A pre-holiday stay in Paris is coming up. It should be lovely and fun to be walking with all the Christmas lights on avenue Montaigne and the C-E.

elsiejune Nov 4th, 2008 05:39 PM

Lilliancroft,
No compensation at all - not from ParisPerfect, not from Guest Apartment Services, not from the very gentlemanly Michael (vrbo #9718), and not from the extremely efficient Sheila (vrbo #101520). In fact, quite the opposite as I've paid dearly (see exchange rate!) for the pleasure of time spent in these flats. No, I'm just a traveler who appreciates her surroundings and enjoys sharing this forum with others for the valuable exchange of information it provides. No matter what they call themselves, no place is perfect, they all have their advantages and disadvantages...which I'm always happy to share with other Fodorites. EJ ((#))

gracejoan3 Nov 5th, 2008 05:30 AM

lilliancroft,

I have received emails from many friends who thought your post was very out of line!

All who know me are aware of my many posts with suggestions of places to stay. They have included Guest Apts., Parisian Flat, Paris Vacation Apts., along with Paris Perfect. For me, I have decided to settle on Paris Perfect because I not only like their apts., but they are in an area that I like to be in.

In all my posts, I have always tried to make it very clear that we all have budgets, we all have preferred locations. We also have all the variety of choices for dining budgets and locations. My choices, are for me. I certainly respect the choices that others make.

I am curious to read your response to a post by weekender on the Paris mid Sept - Mid Oct. thread. It seems that by clicking on your name that all your posts are in reference to staying in one particular place. weekender was asking your relationship!

I find posts like yours to be offensive to what this forum is all about....

Just my two cents - after reading Joan's posts from her Paris Perfect apartment, we decided to give it a try. We are, at this very moment, staying in the Moulin au Vent, and it is absolutely a treat! We love it! No matter the minor extra cost of an apartment over a hotel room - the experience is worth every penny. And I, for one, appreciate the running commentary and info on these beautiful apartments! Wish we were staying longer. My husband and I share a birthday, and we decided to come here!
