Hi Joan...love the knobs...I'll have to try to pick some up if I'm ever there during the brocante, have a great little piece they'd really jazz up. Glad to hear you enjoyed Thoumieux...we tried it last visit and wasn't that taken with the food or room, but might try it again...might have been an off night. Really enjoying all your great pictures and commentary. The girls did pick a hotel for their upcoming trip. Thanks for all your help. They did decide on the St. Germain area. I think it's a good choice for their first visit and at their age. Now they just have to keep saving their money!!!

The knob gal seems to be at all the brocantes. You do have the website don't you? Here it is:
http://www.spam.fr/brocantes.php?enumeration=1 A good one to keep as they update the site regularly and easy to read/understand. You would be surprised all the places you can find to put new knobs. I put them in both bathrooms and really like them...4 euros each..come with the bolt etc. I did order backplates for mine when I got home. A zillion places online for them. The backplates really make a difference. |
To bad going to miss you by the time I get there on the 12th. But still living through you guys and that is a great gift.
IF I had the ways and means to visit all the time I would. |

Hi Joan.........it is a dreary and rainy sunday here. i am thinking about you being in my favorite city. are the xmas things out yet? what about the market on the Champs.? i am trying to get in the xmas spirit.
The Packers killed the Vickings this afternoon. !!!! Enjoy Sue |
Joan, when you post these dishes, I'd like to see what these restaurants look like, PLEASE! :)

I love the knobs, too, and have them on various pieces of furniture in my house. But they always remind me of the time I spent what at the time was an absolute fortune for me on antique porceleine de Limoges doorknobs only to come home and find that (of course) the sizes were all wrong for American doors. Youthful idiocy at its best. I still have the doorknobs - maybe the porcelain's worth something!

Joan,
Those porcelain knobs are so beautiful!!! The cheeses - when I saw those rounds of Mont d'Or, I wanted to go. I went there after our last lunch at Violon d'Ingres in October but the Mont d'or have not arrived yet. I wanted to buy some to take home. They are so wonderful and very seasonal!!! Thanks for the updates. Say hello to Florent and Michael, also to Catherine when you have your Thanksgiving meal!!! Continue enjoying your trip (do I need to say that?). bisous, Lilia |
Well then it will be some time during the week I am there..thanks Joan

Joan , thanks again for the Bar Vendome recommendation for Christmas day. They have responded to my request and I will have a late lunch there. It's a relief to have that settled. Now I have to get busy making other reservations but Christmas was my biggest concern. We do seem to frequent many of the same restaurants!

Haven't been on the Fodor's site in...well, ages, how lucky to sign in and see one of your trip reports! Sort of like an early Christmas gift. I just booked an apartment today for my trip in the summer and so was in a Paris mind; thought I would poke around on the Fodor's board and see what is new.
I'm particularly interested in this report because next summer I will be in France for the first time by myself. I seem to remember that you do some lone venturing out to restaurants, although it appears that you now have a Parisian posse and those single dinners are well in your past. Bravo! Thank you for taking the time to make your wonderful observations (and photos too, all to die for). Bon séjour à Paris! Debra |
