Paris Bound
We are planning our 6 night trip to Paris for May 2009. Does anyone know of the Jay's Paris Hotel, rankd #1 in Tripadivsor? I have been in contact with them. They seem very accomodating, and are offering a great rate on one of their suites.
Any information on that or any other recommended hotels would be great. |

I don't know this hotel--it looks great on the web site and the TripAdvisor reviews are excellent.
It's out of my price range and in an area where I've only stayed once when I wanted fast access to La Defense, but didn't want to stay out at La Defense. You would be in a beautiful neighborhood. |
Have you seen this...?

I think the reviews some it up! Awesome! They reduced there rates quoted on their website by 90 EUR per night, and are including a continental breakfast......
|
mmmm - so are you booking this, brandonmd?
I note that this is your first post - you do know that advertising isn't allowed, don't you? dooo let us know how you get on. regards, ann |
Hmmm, almost all of those reviews on TripAdvisor are from people who had never posted anything, and the only thing on their profiles are reviews for this one hotel. Advertising perhaps? LOL...yes, just a bit too obvious.
|
God, you guys are good. I fell hook, line and sinker.
|
Who said I was advertising? I was just asking... I think that's rude that you were even insinuating that.
|
For 500 euro a night you could do a lot better than that place.
|
brandonmd, no one says you are advertising. Just that the reviewers on TripAdvisor fit a suspicious profile - that of reviewers who have reported on this one hotel exclusively, and who by the way are also unanimously positive.

If you had hung around this forum as long as I have, you would know that a first post endorsing a place is anathema. By Monday the Fodor's police will have blocked your isp and burned down your building. Been nice knowing you. |
What a suspicious bunch on this post. The poor man was just asking for opinions on a place. If he were advertising he'd at least have posted a link. The hotel pictures on the Tripadvisor site look great. I find the 16th a bit too quiet for my tastes.
|
The 16th may be a great place to live but IMHO a tourist probably wants to be closer to the center. Also, those tripadvisor reviews do look suspicious - and that's a lot of money for a hotel none of us have heard of.
|
I went to the hotel's website and other than the rooms being large, I don't see anything worth paying 500 Euros or more per night... If I had that amount of money to spend, I'd stay elsewhere for sure...
|
If you look at all the reviews there are 4 or 5 negative ones. One thing that was said in one of them , there is no elevator. At that price I wouldn't want to have to walk up 4 flights of stairs at the end of a long day.

Please OBEY THE RULES:
Your first post either asks whether or not it is OK to wear sneakers in Europe or you have to rave about one of those repeatedly-topped-by-the-author trip reports Then, your SECOND post has to ask if France is really BETTER than Italy For your third post, you should definitely ask about whether or not they accept Dollars in London For your fourth post, you should ask if "hubby" has to wear a coat and tie when visiting St. Peters in Vatican City Do all that and everyone will think you are just like them and THEN you can ask about hotels, OK? |
branonmd,
Welcome to Fodors. To explain a bit...what you will need to know is that there have been several instances of people joining the Forums, strictly to promote their hotel/travel agency/etc. Being wise, these people often will come across as fellow travellers who have found this great hotel, just like home, cheap, super location, tell themn Bobby Joe sent you...and then you see this person doing the same thing on other sites...and then real travellers comment on how it is NOT the best,etc.. So, being the internet, there is a certain amount of skepticism required. So, question to you...is htis your first visit? What other hotels have you looked at? Why do you want to stay in the 16th? You could get some very nice hotels closer to the Center of Paris....What are your needs? Tell us about your trip plans? We're not being rude...it's just that the world is not always as it seems. There are unscrupulous people out there. |
Dukey, you just made my day!
|
To add to Dukey's list, which is a riot....For your fifth post, you will ask for help with an itinerary that includes England, Scotland, all of France, all of Italy and Greece, but oh, you only have eight days, two of which are for traveling to and from home... :-)
