Red Dwarf - the premise is that aboard a huge spaceship live the last 4 inhabitants [sort of] of earth - a liverpool "scallie", a hologram who is a useless "jobsworth", a being that is half man, half cat, and an android.

they get into a series of hilarious [and occasionally thought provoking] scrapes, go forwards and back in time, visit the grassy knoll, and escape death virtually daily.

it was made for TV, and it's recently transferred to the radio, which as Hetismij says, is surprisingly successful.
