The tourist sites will watched more closely, of course. I don't go to them, but summer family travelers do go there. Some inconveniences in your plans.

For those who care to remember, we did have borders before. That has never stopped anything. They can restore border controls as much as they want I will find a way to cross the country without being controlled.

On this subject, I have a friend who crossed the border between former West-Germany and East-Germany without realizing it. He found himself in front of a BMP of East-German army in his own truck of the belgian army. He was never so fast doing a U-turn...

I believe the pragmatics on this - it took ages to get Schengen it will take even longer to abolish it - and in the light of the recent attacks everywhere, everybody (politicians) wants to take further steps towards unity. Something like FBI, coastal guards whatever. Which IMHO would make sense, I don't think the suicide bomber sign for attacks in 'Belgium only - et encore, juste la partie francophone - and go on strike if asked to go to France to blow themselves up.

To the exception of the Brits, but they are on an island already so they probably can make easyer border controls.

BTW, It made me wonder what kind of US embassy messages you would get if US elects D Trump...

Whathello Trump is the most loathed American in the US too, at least in my circles.

I realized when I was out walking my dogs recently that when I pass by a house with a Trump sign in the yard it gives me a dark, uneasy feeling inside and makes me want to avoid eye contact with the residents. It was such an unfamiliar feeling to experience just from walking past a neighbors house, it was really unsettling.

Haha �� I will let you know the next time I'm in your neck of the woods. As of now I have a loose plan for Istria in September.

We had planned on a day trip to Antwerp when we were in Amsterdam last December but we ran out of steam & were too lazy on the day given to it. So we have yet to visit Belgium (among many other places).

Maybe I'm really stupid but in a way I feel that the time soon following a terrorist attack or incident is safer than when all is quiet because of the heightened security.
