Hello from Sunny Fort Lauderdale. We are heading to Italy May 15 for 3 nights Rome, 2
nights Assisi, 2 nights Florence and 2 nights Venice. Anyone else going in May. Would love to hear from you and compare travel plans. The postings here have helped so much with our plans. Thanks to all...
|
Hello - I will won't be WITH you in Italy in May, but I will be NEAR you - spending a week in Malta (as well as about 5 days in London and 4 days in Tunisia.) The entire Med. basin should be pretty sunny that time of year.
|
My husband, myself and two teenage sons will be heading to Italy on May 23. We'll spend 4 days in Rome, two days in Florence and 3 days in Vencie. Plan to train between cities. We are all extremely excited and hope that the world situation does not force us to reconsider. And, I agree with you, the postings on this board have been extremely helpful in making hotel reservations and planning our itenerary.

Hello from equally sunny California. We are heading off May14th for 4 nights Rome, 2 nights Venice and 3 nights Florence. Also taking trains between places. I am already committed to going on this trip regardless of the war situation. I am hooked on this site as well. Very informative!!

We will be in Paris May 5 thru May 14.

Counting the days
|
It's been a very cold, snowy winter in Connecticut, and we are heading to the Italian Riviera and the Cinque Terre on May 3rd, flying out of New York. It's our 2nd trip to Italy, and although we are a bit apprehensive, our plans remain firm. I'm trying to learn the Italian language with a teaching CD, and listening to Andrea Bocelli CDs.

La Dolce Vita!
|
Paris, Avignon, Luzern, Strasbourg, Reims, and Paris again at the end of May, beginning of June.

We have never been to Strasbourg or Reims. The rest of the trip is a return to old favorites. I already regret that we don't have more time in Paris... and Avignon.
|
My wife and I are spending a week in London and SW England, with a side one day trip to Paris on the Eurostar (the day of our 20th wedding anniversary). Yeah, I've read all the critism of a one day trip to Paris, but c'mon - be a little romantic. Anyway, we love the pace. We hope you all have a great trip no matter where you go :)
|
Going to Paris and the Loire Valley May 1, returning May 15. Have been greatly looking forward to this trip, so hope nothing happens in the meantime to prevent it. Don't agree with the French actions on Iraq, but just won't let that bother me (not enough to cancel trip, anyway!)

Hi Garnyfla,
Leaving Australia on May 3 for the big European adventure. One week in London and Cotswolds before doing 23 day whistle stop tour of Central Europe, including Rome, on May 10. Then we're off on our own to Paris, Sienna, Amalfi coast, Sicily, Mykonos, Paros and Santorini, all in all 9 weeks. Sooooooo, exciting!

I'm weighing in from Maryland, where it's finally warming up and the snow is melting. May 11th will find us landing in Budapest, then on to Austria, Germany, and ending in Prague. We've never been to Prague, and are very excited about seeing it. I'm planning to rent or buy the movie "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" to get me more in the mood.
|
That's amazing Toni! I have always dreamed of doing a two or three month stay in Europe. Have a great time!

Hi,

We are flying out to Italy on May 15...
we will be going to Venice, Florence
and Sorrento and Rome.....
We have never been to Italy and we can Hardly wait...I can taste the wine now...

Hi. This is my first trip to Rome and Athens and Crete. Never been to Italy or Greece. " only" ever been to England. France, Holland, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland. We took our two kids to France last year and they got so much from it we have to go again. This year they are even doing some of the planning!
|
Doug, you will absolutely love Greece.
This will be our 15 trip to Europe and Greece is by far our favorite. While in the Plaka are of Athens there is a Taverna called Xixos that you should not miss. You have to ask locals how to get there as it is not a tourist place.A friend with the Emassy security took us there and it was the best meal of the trip and also the cheapest.Only locals usually.
What a great idea to let your family help in the trip planning. They must all be excited.
|
Hi,
We also are going to Italy in May with our two daughters in their 20's. Our daughter who lives in SanFrancisco is meeting our flight in Detroit and we all fly out together. We are spending a little time in Rome and have apartments rented in both Venice and Florence. One daughter has been to the Peggy Guggenheim in Venice so we're all anxious to visit it. Our daughters are in art programs so it should be a fun time to visit the museums. Glad to see that so many others are still on with their plans
|
We will be in Paris late may through early June for 2 weeks. Looking forward to it so much! Rome next year.
|
Paris is lovely in May.I personally won't be spending any of my dollars there for a while.I know this is a heated debate item for many people. It is merely my opinion. On the other hand I hope your trip is wonderful for you.

To all of you going in May, have very enjoyable vacations! I envy you, it wasn't due to impending war my family and I aren't going this year-it's due to our financial situation (due to the economic situation).
|
Count me in! Leaving end of May for 5 nights in Rome, 3 nights in Venice, and ending with 5 nights in Paris. Can't wait for that first limoncello!

Greetings from rainy Vancouver,Canada. My husband and I depart May 14 for a week in Dublin to attend our daughter's wedding. After all the wedding festivities are over we leave Dublin for Milan on May 23 for one night then on to our rental accommodations in Colle di val d'Elsa. Went to Italy two years ago on a coach tour (left Van. Sept 15 2001) which we really enjoyed but thought this time we would venture out on our own. Kind of nervous about driving in Italy but will give it a try. This board and Slow Travellers have been extremly helpful in the planning.

Wishing you all a safe and exciting adventure.
|
We are driving also in Italy. The only area that cincerns me is Rome. From all I have read once you leave the larger cities it is beautiful and easily navigated.
|
Hello from cold and rainy new york. My love and I are leaving May 24th-Rome 4 days,Florence 3 days, Venice 2 days and out of Milan. I'm packing my fat pants for the return flight.
