Passepartout, no need to apologize for not meeting my needs for dramatic stimulation. When I want both stimulation and physics analysis, I watch "Mythbusters." If you're really interested, why don't you submit the 'dragged by a motorscooter by a purse strap' scenario to the show for them to test out? You can learn about the show at the Discovery Channel site at http://tinyurl.com/td0l

I'm the one actually owing the apology. I regret my choice of words, 'dramatic stimulation' - since I thereby implied that these accounts are exaggerated, when in truth I don't know which, if any, accounts are exaggerated, and which not. My intent was mainly to emphasize that it isn't necessary to examine the details of most accounts in order for the point of such accounts to be understood. When someone is injured as a result of having their purse snatched, it is of scant relevance to most travelers the details of how such event occurred, other than that the manner of how the purse was worn contributed to the victim being injured.

I thought it was supposed to be that 2 of them are one people, person, whatever. Does that make 3?

Ziana Oct 11th, 2006 09:32 AM

I suppose if 3 IDs communicationg it is 3 of them...which 2 of them (IDs) is one person OR 1 of them (person) is 2 IDs...correcto mundo?

For the record, I don't hate Roby/Passy. I do find his "logic" amazing.

The first part of this thread is populated by posts by Fodorties frustrated (or confused) by his physics "discussion".

My comment that I did not think he traveled defintely released his ire. He clarified that he HAS traveled to Paris. Recently or not, that is his call. He sure is an expert on the RER, that's for sure.

starrsville Oct 11th, 2006 09:37 AM

I do think it is bizarre that he posted as both Roby and Passy (sometimes in consecutive posts) to "discuss" his travel experience. It was hard to remember which one had spoken last. But, again, that is his choice.

Robespierre Oct 11th, 2006 10:29 AM

That would be interesting.

Ziana Oct 11th, 2006 10:36 AM

Roby,
WHAT
WOULD
BE
INTERESTING???

If you actualy traveled and had Passport?

Reading all the responses of Fodorites who travel frequently to Italy and France (more than 75% of posters is my guess), I feel serene & safe because my annual trip is to Greece which (as few people realize‚ has the lowest crime rate in Europe.

Purse-snatching is almost unknowns except in the worst neighborhoods of Athens (populated, Greeks hasten to say, mostly by Albanians). As Greek friends tell me (and backed up by books & articles) "petty theft is not part of the greek culture." (Now, maybe MAJOR larceny by shipping magnates is different :-)). On my first trip,as an ex-New Yorker, it took a while not to be tense about handbag, wallet etc, but I finally relaxed after I left a package of gifts on a bench in a major city and found it there one hour later. A nearby waiter said "I watched it for you -- no one came near it." Just one of the reasons traveling in Greece is so relaxing!

Ziana, your meaning is indecipherable.

If you are asking whether I have traveled, the answer is: figure it out. The information is there.

Pilates Oct 11th, 2006 11:18 AM

Interesting. Ziana wrote to Roby but Passepartout answered. Mystery over.

obxgirl Oct 11th, 2006 11:19 AM

Ziana's question above was directed to ROBY. Can't keep yourselves straight?

You are RED HOT Roby/Passy...

Now tell us all how do you switch IDs so quickly - I want another one to be a man and go talk to Ziana and ask her on a date and stuff...like people who don't have life...you know...

Passepartout Oct 11th, 2006 11:50 AM

"If you actualy traveled and had Passport?"

Does this mean "If you actually traveled and had a passport?" If so, it's a stupid question that doesn't require answering.

If it means "If you actually traveled and has Passpartout done the same?" then Robespierre wouldn't be the logical one to answer it.

The question to Robespierre has already been addressed in egregious detail by Robespierre. Since I (or someone named Passport) was mentioned, it is perfectly logical that I should answer the part of it that was directed to me.

I believe it's you who are confused.
