Actually, I thought Juliet Binoche looked rather interesting.
The Oscars are about movies.
She looked Dramatic.

Am I the only one that was disappointed that Chocolat wasn't in French? Liked it well enough, but preferred Like Water For Chocolate for magic realism.

Now, was this about clothes?

Kalena, I am with you. I was disappointed as well that the film was not in French. I guess it is because it was an international production.
What nationality is Lasse Hallström, anyway (Swedish, or so)? He made "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" and "The Cider House Rules". Both superbe films.

Even though this is not about travel, it's fun sharing thoughts with other Fodorites. Here are my two cents worth. In my opinion, "Chocolat" was an art film wannabe. Some of my favorite films are sub-titled foreign films, such as "Babettes Feast", "Jean de Florette" and "Manon of the Spring". If anyone liked "Chocolat" check these out. The stories have much more impact. Personally, I thought Julia's dress was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. I'm not a fan of her films, but I do believe she is sincere in her excitement. Juliette Binoche's performance in "English Patient" was my favorite. Is it just me, or does Russell Crowe remind anyone else of a young Richard Burton?

I thought Julia Roberts' dress was beautiful. And I did think her reaction to winning was sincere - at first, I didn't but then I saw the trembling hands, and I think that's a bit difficult to fake.

Lizzie is right. Julia Roberts must have been sincere, as trembling hands ARE difficult to fake. They're not difficult for an actress to fake, to Julia's must have been genuine.

Ouch, to the last poster. LOL
I still like Julia AND Juliette.
Comparing Russell Crowe to Sir Richard, that's a stretch! (He just gives me the hebe geebies! But, I haven't seen Gladiator yet!)

See the film, then let me know what you think.

Russell Crowe is darling. I knew he was destined for greatness when I saw "The Insider." That was truly a great performance. Gladiator is a awesome movie.
