We just got back on Sunday from 4 days in London and 4 days in Paris. This trip was a 13th birthday gift to my daughter from my mother-in-law, so it became a girl trip - mother-in-law, sister-in-law, my daughter and myself. A fabulous, magical adventure. It was my third trip to London, but my first to Paris...and I can't get back there soon enough. I am still overwhelmed by how beautiful Paris was...and how wonderful the art, the food, and the wine!

We were at La Motte Picquet (2nd time) in March. Have great pictures of the poodle, but forgot to write down her name - help?? I'd like to get it right in my scrapbook. Thank you.

We took a trip (in a sense) to the land of Oz this past Tuesday night, courtesy of these five fine musicians based in Adelaide...<BR><BR>http://www.fruit.on.net

My husband and I were in Las Vegas and Palm Desert for a long weekend for a wedding in April, were in Rome, Amalfi, Florence, Alsace, Normandy and Paris for 3 weeks in May, stayed at Hotel de Champs du Mars in the 7th. Loved the neighborhood, especially the wonderful crepe lady on the corner of Rue de Champs du Mars and Rue Cler! We are going to New Orleans for a long weekend in October and staying at La Maison Marigny. I always need to have a travel plan!!!

The poodle's name is Maija or Maya or... -- and she is a love:) Of course I know Danielle [Mmme Pagnoux] as well as Mme Ireland. They refuse to speak English to me now that I have studied more French.

Came back June l8th after a month in<BR>France.<BR><BR>A week at the Relais Bosquet in the 7th<BR>doing all the museums then a drive down<BR>through the Loire to Avignon; three weeks in a rental house in Caromb and<BR>a quick trip to Catalunia then up the<BR>Autoroute du Soleil to Burgundy; Beaune<BR>and then Troyes. <BR><BR>Absolutely fell in love with Troyes!<BR><BR>Just booked some down time on the West<BR>Coast of Vancouver Island in October -<BR>'slightly' different than France!

Lynne, did you shop at the outlets at Troyes? This has been on my "must do" list for a couple of years, but I've never made it out there. Please elaborate about what you liked about Troyes.<BR><BR>Friday? Standing here in the kitchen typing this reply while my husband quarters the chicken for tonight's dinner: chicken and dumplings. Son has had recent surgery and needs comfort food.<BR><BR>Have a nice weekend, all!

Lynne Jun 28th, 2002 05:12 PM

karen;<BR>We were there Sunday (closed) and <BR>Monday (open from 2:30) and we had<BR>to be in Paris. Got brochures from<BR>both outlets (they're on opposite ends<BR>of the town) and they both seemed to<BR>be specializing in American clothing<BR>outlets (CK,RL, Timberland, etc.) so<BR>I wasn't too upset to miss out (plus<BR>the temp. was 34!! - actually, too hot<BR>to shop!).<BR><BR>Troyes, Autun, Auxerre and Beaune are<BR>beautiful Burgundian towns with lots <BR>of late Medieval/early Renaissance <BR>buildings. The cathedral in Troyes<BR>still has l5C townhouses around it so<BR>it's possible to really get a 'feeling'<BR>for how it must have been. The main<BR>square is filled with sidewalk cafes<BR>and it is delightful to sit there on<BR>a hot (!) evening amongst the old <BR>buildings (and the new tourists!).<BR>It reminded me of York but more <BR>'natural'. (don't attack me, Yorkists!)<BR><BR>Troyes is actually in Aube not Burgundy.

Got back from a month in the south of spain about a month ago. I can't seem to re-enter. I feel so different. But isn't that why we travel.

Vacations: ahh, the sweet anticipation!!! Came back from India in January (very different experience, not for those looking for bodily comfort!). Going to Barcelona/Costa Brava/Girona/Frankfurt/Duesseldorf trip over Labor Day. I am eagerly counting the days until the trip. Meanwhile, (as someone else said) can't help myself and planning my next, very first South Pacific adventure- Tahiti!!!! Any suggestions on that topic?<BR>Regards

Just back from Rocky Mountain National Park, Arches, Bryce Canyon, Zion, and Yosemite (posted report on US forum) -- outstanding trip, on the heels of Paris in May-June. Now working on Alaska for August, & Australia & New Zealand for November -- this is turning out to be a great year, travelwise!

Made first trip to Europe for two weeks in May. Spent three days in Paris, TGV to Arles (with side trips to Avignon and San Remy), a day in the Cinque Terre, LONG train and ferry ride to Corfu, Greece, then back to Rome for a few days. Absolutely fell in love with Europe, and I too have to be planning a trip somewhere at all times! Have traveled extensively in the States, some in Canada, and also a previous trip to Ireland. Going to Vegas in September, and am trying to get some friends together for a trip in May back to the Cinque Terre. Have reoccuring dream of sitting at an outdoor cafe in Vernazza, with a chilled glass of the local wine, watching the sun set!
