I'll be there a year from today, as a matter of fact, in Rome. May get over there earlier in '06, too, but at this time I have no concrete plans other than my end-of-year trip.

I just booked a ticket to Venice,in early March. I also booked a room at Pensione Accademia, which I enjoyed earlier this year.(I just returned from India and was feeling depressed,so this was my comfort!)

March 29 - April 8 Arrive Rome, depart Venice.

kakianne Dec 7th, 2005 11:12 AM

I am going with 7 other women to the Veneto and Emilia Romagna in late Sept. We have rented a villa for one week and will spend a few days on each end in hotels/B&Bs in whatever cities we arrive in/depart from - probably Rome Florence or Venice. So far we know we want to see Ferrara, Ravenna, Bologna, and go on a tour of parmesan cheese/ham/balsamic production.

Wow look at all the people going to Italy!

My plan is to go to Venice first two weeks of October with three crazy German friends.

Having a helluva time finding a big beautiful apartment for 4 with a terrace on a canal!

Statia Dec 7th, 2005 11:43 AM

offwego, I can relate to the apartment with terrace issue since that is always a must for me and DH, as well. Have you checked with www.venicerentals.com? I have now rented two apartements in Venice with a terrace thru them and was very pleased with both.

I think you and I chatted about your Rome quandry at the "other place". I was actually thinking about you last night as I was searching for the same thing in a different city!

I checked out your site and was disappointed that they don't seem to actually have apartments listed (pictures, maps, etc.) Do you just send them an email, tell them what you want and they find it?

dewdrops Dec 7th, 2005 01:14 PM

I am planning a trip for my family(8 of us) May 25-June 9. We will be in Rome(with a day trip to Pompeii),Florence and surrounding tuscan countryside and last but not least London. Rooms booked but still waiting for easyjet to release the dates from London.
I hope all your travels are exciting and eventful!!

Statia Dec 7th, 2005 02:36 PM

offwego, I know where you are coming from in research since I also prefer to look at things myself straight off the site.

When I first started renting from Venice Rentals they had all their listings available on the website and you could search on your own. I'm not sure why they no longer do that, but I can guarantee that if you email Denise and Maurizio with your requirements, they will send you a bunch of links for you to look at...with no pressure after that.

Just email them ([email protected]), take a look at what they send you, see if something interests you and then you can get back to them.

Although not directly on a canal, I still think the Scala del Bovolo apartment might work out really well for you. But, that's just my opinion.

monicapileggi Dec 7th, 2005 05:37 PM

I'll be in Italy May 12th - 26th, visiting Florence, Bologna, and Venice; with day trips from each city. I posted a message on fodors for a fodorite get together in Florence (...or Bologna or Venice!). So far I'll be meeting up with two people and would go have others join us. We'll probably meet Saturday evening the 13th. Email me if you're interested!

Sorry to hijack this thread

I did get in touch with them. Of the listings they sent, one apartment looks great, very near the Rialto bridge. So that's a possibility. 3900 Euro.

I missed the information about the Scala del Bovolo apartment. Is that a listing of theirs? They didn't send that one....

Statia Dec 8th, 2005 12:26 PM

offwego, it's possible that they do not have the Scala del Bovolo apartment any longer, but you could always ask. To be honest that one is near the Rialto Bridge, as well.

What is the name of the one you are interested in? You can email me at [email protected] if you wish.

We changed our plans. We're not going in September. I just booked flights for June! That's three full months earlier. :d
B-)

Statia Dec 8th, 2005 01:26 PM

Yeah, Myriam! It's even closer now! You must be thrilled! :)

thit_cho Dec 9th, 2005 11:49 AM

Rome, Naples and Florence this December, on way home to NY from Tunisia (I have been to all three cities before, so I'll only be a day or so in each to do some favorite things).

loisco Dec 9th, 2005 12:12 PM

We're doing a Rick Steves Best of Italy tour (rome, florence, venice, etc.) in September. It begins in Milan. After we leave the tour we will go on our own. To where?..no idea yet. I am researching. Any ideas????

We will end up in Paris of course.
