Italy! Who's going in 2006 and when?
Hello I was just curious to see who's going to Italy in 2006, and what months are they traveling in. I'm planning to go October 2006. I havent got my dates together yet, and I'm still working on an itinerary. If your plans are complete.....please share. :)
Thanks ~T |
Planning a trip to Italy from mid May to early June.
Plans include a few day in Cinque Terre, Tuscany, Venice, Lake Garda. Still getting itinerary organized. |
Rome in March.
Planning two weeks in August. 4 days Palermo, 3 days Taormina, 3 days Cinque Terre, and 4 days Rome.
But then that leaves out Venice, which is an issue. So we may have to sneak in a trip sooner than August. |
Second half September 2006. Calabria and probably a few days in Sicily (Taormina area).
Val Gardena in March (skiing).
Family of 10 visiting Italy June 24 - July 8. Plane reservations and hotel reservations are all booked.
From JFK, fly into Venice, then train down to Florence, and another train to Rome. After that, we take a train from Rome to the Amalfi Coast. Flying back home out of Rome. We are using all public transportation in Italy. |
April 29 - May 7: 2 couples dividing time between Rome & Tuscany.
Family group of 14 going to Venice and Bellagio (plus day trips not yet determined) in August 2006. Our accommodations are all booked and most of us have already booked our flights.
((c)) |
Family of 4 travelling for 3 weeks June 9 - 30. Will stay in Piedmont, Liguria, Tuscany and Rome. Have booked all hotels/B&Bs and flights.
I'll be in Rome, Umbria and Tuscany for 2-3 weeks beginning at the end of June. Can't wait!
May 2nd - 9th with my husband. We're going to Venice, Florence and Rome. We can't wait!!!!
If they don't go "belly up" before May, we have FF Miles tickets through Delta for Italy! We hope to see the Lake Como area again and then head to the "Italian Rivera" area for the first time. We can't wait!
Myriam,
It doesn't seem like that many people go to Calabria unless they have family there, where are you going in Calabria? Glad to see someone besides me going to that area! |
Probably a couple of weeks in May for research/vacation, unless I decide to throw in Paris and/or Athens too. Solo.
Month of September - 15 day tour (first
one) of S. Italy then 15 days on our own wandering about the Veneto and Lake District. |
Going to Venice at the end of April and again at the beginning of October. It has become our favorite vacation spot.
Visiting the Amalfi coast the 12-17th of September, after 9 days in Croatia. Have FF tix and lodging in Italy is all on points - yippee!
AC early May
Puglia in January, then February, then probably March, then a week at Easter, then, oh ok, I've just bought a villa there, I have the best excuse!
Going to Venice, sometimes in the first 2 weeks of October. Will start doing major hotel research and planning after the first of the year.
July 1 to July 23 :
Rome 3 days Rapallo 3 days Cannes 3 days Lucca 1 day Venice 2 days Florence 4 days (including 1 day at Siena/San Gimignano) AND CAN'T WAIT!! |
Planning a graduation trip to Rome for my son and my nephew some time in late May or early June. Hoping to avoid the heat but go late enough to find pleasant temps. I went there (Rome, Florence, Venice) in October 1999 and it was HOT! Get air conditioned rooms!!

Two weeks in June, a stop in Calabria, then nine days in Sicily, and I hope a couple of days in Rome before coming home.
Wow! alot of you are going in May & June. Is it ideal to go in Ocotber?
Finally decided on Sicily in June ( the only time I can go). We haven't worked out an itinerary yet.
Oh, anyone ever stay at the Ucciardhome in Palmero? |
A group (9 altogether) of us are going to Rome and Florence in Feb'06. CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!
(Kate: just bought a villa in Puglia?! I'm so jealous!) |
We'll be in Piedmont and Val D'Aosta the last week of May.
Montepulciano, Florence and Bologna the second week in January. We love to travel in Italy in January due to lack of tourist crowds.
We will be in Rome in March 2006.

We're going to Calabria because it's still unspoilt (but being discovered by the large European tour operators!) and on the recommendation of my sister who has been going for the last 5 years for a couple of times a year (we're both living in Europe). We think of staying in or near Tropea. Suggestions for a moderately priced small hotel/B&B/agriturismo are always welcome! |
It's definitely unspoiled. I always do Tropea as a daytrip from my family's, but I have some hotels bookmarked at home. Even though I have no personal experience with them I will post them later. What large tour operators are doing trips there?
Both the Neckermann group and TUI, the leading TO's in Europe.
June 14-24. My husband and I and our twelve year old son. Most of the time we are staying in Montefalco and exploring Umbria. This is our fourth time to Italy and third for our son. Will finish the week off with just one night in Rome.
I just got back from a two-week stay in November, and I am planning on a March return, and possibly another autumn trip!
Going again in early March! This trip we're hitting Florence (1 night), Bologna (2 nights), Venice (4 nights), and Milan (1 night). Can't wait!
My neighbors (Italians with relatives still living there) have invited me and my kids to join them at a house outside of Rome for a week or so next June. yeah!
Rome for sure in Oct. with hopefully a week in Dubrovnik and, if not, Sicily for a week.
My college-aged niece suggested we do spring break together in Italy. It will be her first trip out of the eastern time zone. We have reservations in Venice and Rome for March 11-19.
A friend and I are also planning northern Italy in early May. . . lakes and good food our only requirements. Still planning. . . |
Will be in Rome March 8th to 16th! Anyone want to meet? Just DH & I.
