VERY VERY VERY slow. Frustratingly slow.

I hope it gets solved before any other gerbils die, before Stu Dudley gives up, and before the cyber gods realize that they need to follow through on whatever they threatened.

How can the people at Fodor's not know about this? It has to hurt business.

Are you editors reading this thread? How about an explanation of why you are still using dial-up technology?

catcrazyaf Jul 29th, 2013 09:51 PM

Thought it was my computer which is getting old. At least I'm not alone.

Nikki Jul 30th, 2013 02:06 AM

Yes.

ironically, this thread loaded very quickly.

I'll see how long it takes once I press the submit button in a minute.

BigAleinstein Aug 4th, 2013 07:49 PM

It is worse than ever tonight.

newtome Aug 4th, 2013 07:55 PM

yeah I'm out till they do something about it.

schnauzer Aug 5th, 2013 05:00 AM

Been thinking it was just me... Obviously not the case, woeful is my take.

tom18 Aug 5th, 2013 06:27 AM

Often VERY slow.

tom18 Aug 5th, 2013 06:28 AM

It took 14 seconds for my last reply to post

NYCFoodSnob Aug 5th, 2013 06:32 AM

It's very slow, even on FIOS, and the graphic design is a mess. I've never seen such an awkward, unattractive mix of font styles. Looks like the art department has no taste and the IT department limited code acumen. Those of us who have been here a few years are familiar with this road trip.

KL467 Aug 5th, 2013 08:29 AM

Yes, VERY slow.

bilboburgler Aug 5th, 2013 09:41 AM

yes slow today and the last few

Underhill Aug 5th, 2013 09:43 AM

I finally figured out that clicking twice speeds things up, at least for a while. In general the site is way too slow, especially for doing posts.

Underhill Aug 6th, 2013 12:26 PM

I just clicked on "change forum," and there was a line at the bottom that read "waiting for ad."

Q.E.D.

The best option is to close the current tab and open a new one

>>It took 14 seconds for my last reply to post<<

I wish! My last post a few minutes ago took 50 seconds to load. Thanks to Nukesafe for highlighting this, I wonder what on Earth is going on.

Micheline Aug 6th, 2013 01:12 PM

Glad I read this. Thought it was my iPad.

nukesafe Aug 6th, 2013 01:59 PM

I don't really think it is the ads, as my screen shows none. Perhaps it is my popup blocker that is taking all the time, as my machine fights the Fodor's advertizing people. I have ads blocked on TA, as well, but those pages load in a flash.

Hint, hint, Fodor's site design people. Check out how the grownups do it.
