Is the Fodor's site getting even slower?

There have been posts in the past discussing how slow the Fodor's site was to load, but I thought that had been fixed some time ago when they redesigned the layout. Perhaps it is just my computer, but similar sites load in a flash, while lately Fodor's seems to take forever.

Anyone else have this problem?

StCirq Jul 29th, 2013 12:32 PM

Yup. It's interminable.

nytraveler Jul 29th, 2013 12:33 PM

Yes, I find it's frequently very slow. And I've tried a couple of different browsers and nothing helps. I think the problem is that there are some ads that are constantly reloading and that interferes with the content.

IMHO they need to let the ads sit for a moment - not just continually revolve.

jamikins Jul 29th, 2013 12:33 PM

Yes, very slow here too!

adrienne Jul 29th, 2013 12:41 PM

Extremely slow!! When I'm on Fodor's I feel like I'm on dial up!

If it's taking way too long to pull up a post I hit the escape key and try again to open the thread. This usually works.

BigAleinstein Jul 29th, 2013 12:43 PM

The Fodor's gerbil died.

simpsonc510 Jul 29th, 2013 12:45 PM

Yes, slow here too. And I keep having to "refresh" the page to get the text to appear! I get only the logo and info at the top of the page, plus side-ads. Have to hit refresh at least every 4th - 5th thread I open. Aggravating!

HappyTrvlr Jul 29th, 2013 12:48 PM

Yes, slow to load no matter where I am getting a WifFi signal.

PRLCH Jul 29th, 2013 01:04 PM

Slow here too.

annhig Jul 29th, 2013 01:10 PM

it can't be the ads - I got rid of them ages ago.

some threads load really quickly, others take an age.

nukesafe Jul 29th, 2013 01:10 PM

Your response made me laugh out loud, Big Al!

adrienne Jul 29th, 2013 01:12 PM

ann - I think the ads run in the background, even if you don't see them.

BigAleinstein Jul 29th, 2013 01:14 PM

What you are laughing about Nuke, who do you think is running the tread wheel?

yestravel Jul 29th, 2013 01:14 PM

yep-horribly slow, like the old days with dial-up.

vickiebypass Jul 29th, 2013 01:46 PM

Drives me crazy - so slow that I often give up...

Gretchen Jul 29th, 2013 01:56 PM

Only sometimes. Not particularly slow once on the site.

BigAleinstein Jul 29th, 2013 05:58 PM

It also takes a long time after you hit the submit button. Sometimes I think it is a omen from the cyber gods not to post.

ziggypop Jul 29th, 2013 06:11 PM

slow here also, and has been for quite some time now. It does not matter if I am on my laptop or my IPad using wifi. Google Chrome seems a hair faster than Internet Explorer but nothing to brag about.

StuDudley Jul 29th, 2013 08:37 PM

SLOW, SLOW, SLOW. I MAY GIVE UP SOON.

Will using Google Chrome help? I have an old laptop and I swapped to Chrome after observing how well it works on my tablet. No I don't work for Google..... :))
