I like fresh air

I just wanted to see if I could start a fight about anything.

colduphere Feb 21st, 2016 06:24 AM

This is a personal view only but I prefer European air to Manhattan air.

sassy27 Feb 21st, 2016 06:39 AM

I guess no Febreze for you. It's ok. I don't travel with it either.

tower Feb 21st, 2016 06:51 AM

come to Ojai...I'll treat you to some very fresh air...
bring lunch money..our air ain't cheap for New Yorkers.

colduphere Feb 21st, 2016 06:58 AM

Tower - does lunch money include a substantial tip? I like to leave 20-25%.

jamikins Feb 21st, 2016 07:04 AM

No you don't.

Whathello Feb 21st, 2016 07:09 AM

I'm actually outside. My wife decided we had to do something with the car that is since 2 years in the basement.

So in order to get to the car, I had to clean some of the garage, get rid of some garden 'compost' that was blocking the way... Now this took me 3 hours. I then found a terrific device that inflate tyres whilst on some low voltage on the car.

Pausing... then trying to start the engine.

Why didn't I scrap that bloody car ...

Air is probably fresh but humid, neither cold nor hot.
a typical gray day in Belgium (avec un ciel si bas qu'un canal s'est pendu' said Brel. (le plat pays).

I don't want a fight Could we discuss about the weather, the pleasure to be alive, the beauty of the flowers, the wine I should open tonight ?

Yes : what should I drink ?

We have ragoût (like say, gulash, pot-au-feu : meat + patatoes + carrots + onions + herbs + + that you let cook at low heat for 5 hours at least).

To get with that :

Côte du Rhône ?
Ribero del Duro ?
Côte de provence ?
Lubéron ?
Puglia ?
Médoc ?
Margaux (might be overkill).
Loire ? seems too light for it.

Waiting for your comments.
It is 5 pm so I need an answer within 2 hours.

iris1745 Feb 21st, 2016 07:16 AM

This tower guy--he is full of fresh air!!

I wish he would have contributed to the 'Memories and Messages' thread for much insight.

IMDonehere Feb 21st, 2016 07:21 AM

You're all wrong, but I refuse to give specifics, as I am thinking of running for public office.

hetismij2 Feb 21st, 2016 07:29 AM

I guess Beijing is off the bucket list then IMD. Paris is the summer too.

Plenty off fresh air here today, a brisk south-wester is ensuring that. There was a time that would have brought a blast of pollution from Germany, but no more. Likewise later when it turns to a north-wester and we would have had pollution from the UK. Now we just have our own pollution to contend with, we have a farty old dog. :).

IMDonehere Feb 21st, 2016 07:34 AM

Thanks for the weather report Het, when do we get the football scores?

suze Feb 21st, 2016 07:37 AM

Aren't you people allowed in The Lounge forum? Is that why you have threads like this cluttering up Europe these days?

nukesafe Feb 21st, 2016 08:07 AM

Well, we are blessed with the freshest air in the world here in the Pacific Northwest. Just think about it. Our air has been scrubbed squeaky clean by it's long passage over the Pacific Ocean. Everyone to the East of us has to breathe our bad breath, burps an flatulence. By the time it reaches the East coast the air is really foul, and the overly polluted Atlantic Ocean does little to clean it until it reaches the garlic eaters in Europe. (Particularly bad in nasty places like Belgium, Whathehello!)

Now that I have insulted everyone else in the world I should open a window and breathe some of our pristine atmosphere -- except it is raining like hell outside.

tower Feb 21st, 2016 08:23 AM

wish he would have contributed to the 'Memories and Messages' thread for much insight.

Sorry Dick (Iris)....I don't touch the lounge. Suze, I'm accepted in the lounge but never go there...this looked like a fun thread. IDH has a keen sense of humor which seems lost on Fodors lately. When you reach my tender age you try to only do things that are fun. There's more than enough grims-ville on our troubled planet.

PalenQ Feb 21st, 2016 08:34 AM

Fresh air would be better than IMD's HOT AIR!

It blows me away, literally!

annhig Feb 21st, 2016 08:38 AM

I guess Beijing is off the bucket list then IMD. Paris is the summer too.>>

I'd scrub Havana too - the air pollution is one thing I will not miss about Cuba.

A car that I recently test drove had an air quality meter - and even here in rural Cornwall there was a noticeable difference between town air and country air which quite surprised me.

Whathello Feb 21st, 2016 08:38 AM

Now I knwo where my fould breath comes from...
Tahnsk Nuke !

Suze : nope, we young fodorites aren't allowed on the lounge - priviledge for the best, I'm sure.
You don't like when we're snarky, you don't like when we're nice together and speaking of nothing ... You were at the head of a school ! One with physical punishments ? I'm sure nobody dared say a word.

Whathello Feb 21st, 2016 08:47 AM

Bon

Since nobody answered, but me being a resourceful tall gorgeous blond businessman used to taking decisions, I found a bottle of Haut-Médoc 1997 in the cellar. Not the best of years but can't be bad...

Cheers... smells good.

annhig Feb 21st, 2016 08:51 AM

à votre santé, what!

hetismij2 Feb 21st, 2016 08:54 AM

IMD 5-1 Chelsea Man City :).

annhig Feb 21st, 2016 08:57 AM

zuts alors!

iris1745 Feb 21st, 2016 09:04 AM

suze[ thumbs up!!

?? thumbs down!!

LOL

hetismij2 Feb 21st, 2016 09:10 AM

I could have added 5-1 Blackburn Rovers West Ham. A high scoring FA cup round. ;)

Eet smakelijk What, en proost!

MissPrism Feb 21st, 2016 09:38 AM

Fresh air? Luxury! When I were a lass, we 'ad to share our air with ten other families. 'Im at number six got more than 'is fair share because of 'is emphysema .

Being the youngest in't family I got my air last and reet mucky it were too.

IMDonehere Feb 21st, 2016 10:01 AM

Thank you Het, now we have sports and weather.

AND, a number of people have made relevant travel comments.

AND, a number of people recorded fond remembrances of fresh air past.

AND we keep Tower from wondering from his home.

Sarastro Feb 21st, 2016 10:05 AM

These are fascinating posts.

If this were TA we could tag all of the posts as objectionable and have them all ¨deleted by the TA community¨.

iris1745 Feb 21st, 2016 10:14 AM

Yes and IMD; Thumbs ???

You all decide.

IMDonehere Feb 21st, 2016 10:16 AM

I'm all thumbs.

IMDonehere Feb 21st, 2016 10:18 AM

I'll be back later to see if I live or die.

Whathello Feb 21st, 2016 10:20 AM

Sarastro,

TA police seems to be sleeping - I'm following a thread where they even mentioned me (flattered) which has not yet been killed whereas some others have been nuked apparently (that I didn't read)...
But it should not last ...
Bahhhh

Sarastro Feb 21st, 2016 10:44 AM

Well Whathello, I just mentioned you again and I am sure that my reference will be short lived.

Whathello Feb 21st, 2016 11:20 AM

Ah thanks.

An interesting point is one saying that TA is a commercial company - hence we (posters) have no say...
That's bascially what I found too : they decide and you follow.

On Fodors you are given much more freedom.

So the question is why so many people still stay on TA : they all have a commercial interest ?

hetismij2 Feb 21st, 2016 11:24 AM

This thread could be zapped when the Fodor's Mods get back to work tomorrow. Yes they give us freedom, but they don't really like off topic threads anywhere but in the closed to most Lounge. That they just about tolerate.

Meanwhile if I had some air freshener I might use it. Damn dog!:)

Whathello Feb 21st, 2016 11:54 AM

Yes, I digress, I digress...

Our dog doesn't smell, she hardly ever goes out - we have a sofadog.

Sarastro Feb 21st, 2016 12:03 PM

To keep posts relevant, you must talk about your traveling dog.

Whathello Feb 21st, 2016 12:10 PM

I can't ! she doesn't walk 200 meters per day...
Only dog I've got to kick to get her out...
And then she comes to every window, asking us to get her in.

The cats travel though...Is it ok to talk about traveling cats ? They go twice a year at least to southern France, and one of them spent 20 days wandering around before coming back, exhausted and very fit.
(should do the same, maybe... 20)

annhig Feb 21st, 2016 12:22 PM

we have a runaway dog with a perpetually empty stomach - does that count?

hetismij2 Feb 21st, 2016 12:24 PM

Our dog travels. He loves going in the camper with us. He travelled from La Palma to Dusseldorf to Maastricht to uswhen he was four months old. Been travelling off and on ever since.

flpab Feb 21st, 2016 12:33 PM

TA was doing great on the stock market the other day, what is that about? Could be the reason the riff raff were booted. They needed unpolluted fresh clean as a daisy air over there for the stock to rise so pollute away on fodors.

suze Feb 21st, 2016 01:37 PM

<Suze : You don't like when we're snarky, you don't like when we're nice together and speaking of nothing.>

Bingo. Correct on both counts.
