May/June: A few days in Rome prior to heading to Baveno, then Rome for a week. Going on this trip: http://alumni.umich.edu/travel/2005itin.php?trip=15 November: To Florida to meet some friends vacationing & living there This doesn't rule out anything else, it's just what I have planned for right now! First half of the year- Macchu Picchu
2nd half- Angkor Wat or return to PAris and the Dolomites and thereabouts. happy travels to all |
Iregeo (what does that name mean? I tend to misread the meaning of screen names; for a long time I read FamousUncleArt as Famous Unclear Art): we recently moved from Brussels to Maidenhead, UK. And all my travel plans for the year can be summed up in one goal: to spend the absolute MINIMUM amout of time stuck here in Maidenhead.
|
that's funny, I used to misread YOUR name as "BTike"
8-) |
Maitai and company (another couple for the entire time, and other friends joining us at a few intervals along the way) will make Italy home for a few weeks this Fall. I almost have the entire trip booked and will bore the board with the details and itinerary after the first of the year.
Happy (and Safe) Traveling to Everyone! ((H)) |
Switzerland in March, Paris/Normandy in September, and Thailand in November. Plus, a few west coast trips from SF thrown in too.
Best wishes for a wonderful 2005! |
5 wks in Germany, Summer 2005. Maybe Prague?
|
A fascinating thread, and such variety!
January: Ottawa for a few days to hear Angela Hewitt play the Goldberg Variations February: Hong Kong May: the Auvergne region of France That's all that we have planned at the moment, but I'm dreaming of another trip back to Europe in the fall. Anselm |
Iregeo, I live in N.Cal. in the southern end of the Sacramento Valley (Vacaville). Have been here the last 4 years. Before that lived all my life in the SF Bay Area. Where do you live?
Imagine whereever you are you getting quite a rainstorm. We sure are! Your facilities in PV sound fantastic. What a wonderful way to start the New Year! And just think, you will have sunshine and warmth. The combination would sure work for me. Again, wishing you a beautiful trip and lots of fun and happy travels in 2005. |
First - a few responses.. I grew up in Spring Lake, NJ - just went back for the first time in a long time. It's lovely, enjoy it. Second, I'm glad to see so many people go to Europe multiple times in a year. I always think I may be daft for going several times.
Now to my big vacation next year.. I'm really very, very excited as I'm taking my niece and daughter to Venice, Umbria, and Rome for 3 weeks. My niece lives in rural Michigan. She's from a lovely family and is a lovely girl - but travel just isn't an option or a priority (food and shelter being the priorities). She's never left the state. However, last year I took her on a business trip to Germany at the Christmas market time. Then in June we spent a month in Amsterdam, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. I talked to her mother yesterday, and she is working with her highschool to understand jobs that require foreign travel. I was so excited to hear this! My husband isn't able to travel as much as I do - so we bill our trips the "just chicks no dicks tours". I understand from previous posters that I may rot in hell. But that's ok. I'll go anywhere once - even if it gets bad reviews (after all, I loved Athens)... |
We'd really like to work out a trip to Japan. But we hate hot, humid weather and with Mrs. Fly being a school teacher, any trip of length ends up being in the summer. But we're still working on it.

BTilke, "Iregeo" is the first 3 letters of my first and last name.
LoveItaly, I know Vacaville! Home of the world famous onion festival!! I live in So. Cal. (San Fernando Valley), but much prefer No. Cal. San Francisco is one of my favorite cities in the world, along with many in Italy! Best wishes. |
We are not far from you as we live in Westlake Village, Calif.. Mike
|
Hi Iregeo, yes the onions and Vacaville. But no more onions. No more fruit processing plants either. Vacaville is still surronded by farmland and orchards (and the BlueRide Mountains on the west that seperate us from Napa Valley) but Vacaville is now almost 100,000 population. And it is known for his Outlet Stores.
San Francisco - oh sigh - I love SF too, to much actually. Just spent a few days there before Christmas. SF and anywhere in Italy are always fantastic. I do get down to Ojai occassionally, but not to much in S Ca. Family in Long Beach moved up to the N.San Juan Islands. Well California is beautiful IMHO. Happy travels in 2005 everyone! |
hey barbmike. We have our law office in Westlake Village. Guess this big world is small afterall!
|
VERY VERY SMALL!!! What's the name of the Firm? You can email me at [email protected] if you don't want to make it public. Mike
|
Will do.
|
In late January, we're heading to Kenya with a few days stopover in Paris. After that I have no conrete plans yet for the year. Maybe Hawaii over Easter. Happy travels to all!
|
We will be traveling to Virginia Beach to visit my sis-in-law and bro-in-law and our two beautiful nephews in Feb or April or the summer (can't decide which school vacation to go).
Then, we will be in England and Ireland for 16 days in June/July, attending a wedding of a close college friend in Killarney while in Ireland. We will also be going to Vermont on occasion to visit my mother-in-law. We actually leave Thursday for our annual New Year's celebration. Happy travels everyone! |
This year I am making it! Not sure where to, as my son will know in January if he can go with me, then it will most likely be Austria and Switzerland. If not, I am going alone. No more staying at home! And I don't care about economy, Euro vs Dollar or anything else. If this trip is expensive, I will cut on other, smaller trips.
