I came across this site and enjoyed all the postings on this last night of Chanuka. Do you remember the Alan Sherman parody of "Gd Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"?

Gd rest ye Jerry Mendlebaum
Let nothing you dismay
Dis May you had a rotten month
So what is there to say
Let's hope next May is better
And good business comes your way
And you won't have this feeling of dismay
Next May

Another Good one~~Thank you,Mimi~
Adam, Happy New Year~Mom*

Lisa, thank you very much for the update.
Meira, you're welcome. "Happy 8th night of Chanukah, Israel" from the U.S.
Thanks Mimi, that IS hilarious ("God rest ye, Jerry Mendelbaum")

Lauren Dec 17th, 2001 06:05 PM

Unfortunately, Chanukah is all finished for 2001. We can now post parodies of Christmas carols

(Hark the Herald Tribune Sings
Advertising wondrous things.)

and bring back the Chanukah thread next year.

Adam Dec 17th, 2001 06:29 PM

Thanks Lauren, I'll top it next year on the 1st day of Chanukah! Why don't you start a Christmas parody thread!

Thanks everyone for responding. It seems a lot of people either REALLY like Adam Sandler or Chanukah (or both!).

Now it's time to let this one slide gracefully down the thread list.

x Dec 17th, 2001 06:38 PM

Adam- what would Chanukah be without Adam Sandler?

ttt Dec 4th, 2002 05:49 PM

ttttttttttttttttttt

Fodors please remove this post as I find it very offensive. Fodors should be free of religious rants and raves.

yawn Dec 29th, 2002 08:35 PM

Yeah whatever [email protected]...
You went to the trouble of seeking out and topping an old thread because you find it offensive? Makes a lot of sense...not!

Marilyn Dec 29th, 2002 08:37 PM

x, after chuckling through this thread, YOUR post gave me a belly laugh. Religious rants and raves, indeed. Would that all religious rants and raves were as good-humored and innocent as this one!

uh huh Dec 29th, 2002 08:42 PM

Adam Sandler is guilty of many things...but of a religious rant??? Hilarious!

notxbutagree Dec 29th, 2002 08:57 PM

x has a point. if you see someone on Fodors saying Merry Christmas they get attacked for posting something (as quoted by some anonymous poster) "offensive". I see a double standard on Fodors.

If you do a text search for "merry christmas," there are several with that in the title, and none have any disparaging replies.

Jed,

I'd suggest you read the Merry Christmas greeting I posted.
I darn near got run out on a rail and the anger was intense!!

huh? Dec 30th, 2002 01:28 PM

Ummm...isn't religion part of culture....& culture part of the joy of travel? In which case whats with the uproar about a festive greeting??

from a peaceful athiest who doesn't get all this pc nonsense.
