Adam Dec 13th, 2001 08:07 PM

Dear Lauren,

Thanks for playing!

Topping for 5th day of Chanukah!!

mimi taylor Dec 13th, 2001 08:18 PM

thanks adam, I always enjoy your songs.

Adam Dec 13th, 2001 09:33 PM

I hope you enjoy them as much as you enjoy Chanukah, Mimi.

And yes, Lauren, it is best to sing off-key ('tis the season), but I hope you're not referring to me.

Happy, happy, happy, happy Chanukah!

Licht Dec 14th, 2001 03:54 AM

Hi! This sounds like one of those songs sung by the guy who sang "hello Muddah,Helloh faddah"...the letter from camp song. I forget his name..Sheldon something or something Sheldon!

Thanks for the fun!

Virginia Dec 14th, 2001 04:04 AM

Happy Chanukah everyone I know it is not a major holiday but enjoy the season whatever it brings you!!!

c Dec 14th, 2001 04:52 AM

Happy Chanukah to you all~
And a SAFE-REALLY HAPPY NEW YEAR~~~~~

Susan Dec 14th, 2001 05:03 AM

Licht,
"Hello mudda, hello fadda" is by Alan Sherman (you were close!). He's done some great Jewish humor, too.
Happy Chanukah!

Mom Dec 14th, 2001 05:14 AM

Thanks, my son loved this when he saw it on Saturday Night Live years ago~he lives in Japan now, so I have sent it to him~Happy Chanukah~

That Opera Jewish guy from SNL Dec 14th, 2001 05:38 AM

Dear Licht,

Glad you like the song. Always liked "Hello Muddah, Helloh Faddah" myself, especially since I attended a camp from h&ll myself. But I always thought Frank Sinatra sung that song. Silly me. By the way, are you related to MC Lyte? ;)

Ah, but it IS a major holiday for some of us. And yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus (or Tinter Klaus). Will he ever get a new look?

Thanks, c, and a SAFE-REALLY HAPPY NEW YEAR~~~~~to you, too!

Susan, thanks for the update!

Mom, this song is available on one of Adam's cds (but we're just having fun, we're NOT advertising), if you wanted to send it to your son in Japan. Tell him I said "Hi!".

And tonight, we light (licht/Lyte) the 5th candle for Chanukah.

Vita Dec 14th, 2001 05:40 AM

Thanks, Adam. You always make me laugh!

anon Dec 14th, 2001 05:47 AM

If you really want to hear the song, you could listen to (& request) it from www.woxy.com an alternative music web radio station.
BTW, they're mentioned in the movie "Rainman" (97X Bang! the future of rock 'n' roll).;)
Happy Chanukah!!!! Merry Christmas!!!! Happy New Year!!!! Happy Holidays!!!!!

Adam Dec 14th, 2001 05:51 AM

Hi Vita, I finally beat ya @ a holiday greeting!!

Glad you like the song!

Happy (Gilmore) Chanukah!
Vita Dec 14th, 2001 05:54 AM

FOILED! I'll get you for this, Adam Sandler!

Adam Dec 14th, 2001 05:56 AM

Sure Vita, just be sure to save that FOIL for Chanukah presents. Remember: Instead of one day of presents, we have eight crazy nights!

Book Chick Dec 14th, 2001 06:04 AM

Thanks, Adam & Happy Chanukah!

Your Chanukah song & "Love To Eat Turkey" are a couple of my favorite holiday songs, & I think they're classics!

BC

Adam Dec 14th, 2001 06:21 AM

You're welcome Book Chick. Somehow I knew you'd love this!! Maybe you could give us the turkey lyrics at Christmas?

Hope everyone's enjoying this.

Lisa Dec 14th, 2001 12:09 PM

To the real Adam, wherever he may be, thank you for that song. We really enjoy that one.

I think it is time to add a few verses to update that song.

I mean, how can you have a song about "Chanukah" without a "Monica" (Lewinsky).

Throw in Jerry Seinfeld so that Matt Lauer does not embarrass himself again on national TV by asking Jerry what he is getting his daughter for Christmas. (Jerry's answer, "Nothing. She's Jewish)

And so many more.

Capo Dec 14th, 2001 12:24 PM

Thanks! I've always loved that song, as well as (most of the time) Sandler's sense of humor.

Don't forget the holiday greeting used by Chinese Jews: Happy Jackie Chanukah :~)

Mom Dec 14th, 2001 01:08 PM

Adam~what a good idea for a surprise gift for my son, whose name, by the way, is Adam:) I will send him the Chanukah Song and will tell him you said HI~

Licht Dec 14th, 2001 01:27 PM

Hi! At the risk of sounding ignorant...who is mc lyte? Is there a pun here? I don't get it.

Thanks Susan. I had forgotten his name.

We're having latkes tonight!

Book Chick Dec 14th, 2001 01:41 PM

Licht,
I think it's a little play on words & is intended on MC (Hammer) Lite, (or Lyte, in an alternative spelling). Just a guess....

BC

Susan Dec 14th, 2001 03:01 PM

Does anyone know the words to Adam Sandler's New Chanukah Song? I heard it once and it was great.

Enjoy the latkes! Yum.

Adam Sandler Dec 14th, 2001 05:34 PM

Dear Susan & Lisa (but there's still no Monica),
And Mom you might want to send this one to your son, Adam, also. It's from his CD "Stan and Judy's Kid".

Submitted for your enjoyment:

'The Chanukah Song Part II'

Put on your yarmulke
Its time for Chanukah
So much funnakah
To celebrate Chanukah
Chanukah is the festival of lights
Instead of one day of presents
We get eight crazy nights

When you feel like the only kid in town
Without a Christmas tree
Here's a new list of people who are Jewish
Just like you and me

Winona Ryder,
Drinks Manischewitz wine
Then spins a dreidle with Ralph Lauren & Calvin Klein

Guess who gives and receives
Loads of Chanukah toys
The girls from Veruca Salt and all three Beastie Boys

Lenny Kravitz is half Jewish,
Courtney Love is half too
Put them together
What a funky bad a__ Jew

We got Harvey Keitel
And flash dancer Jennifer Beals
Yasmine Bleeth from Baywatch is Jewish
And yes her boobs are real

Put on your yarmulke
Its time for Chanukah
2-time Oscar winning Dustin Hoffmanaka
celebrates Chanukah

O.J. Simpson
Still not a Jew
But guess who is,
The guy who does the voice for Scooby Doo

Bob Dylan was born a Jew
Then he wasn't
but now he's back,
Mary Tyler Moore's husband is Jewish
'Cause we're pretty good in the sack.

Guess who got bar-mitzvahed
On the PGA tour
No I'm not talking about Tiger Woods
I'm talkin' about Mr. Happy Gilmore.

So many Jews are in the show biz
Bruce Springsteen isn't
But my mother thinks he is.

Tell the world-amanaka
It's time for Chanukah
It's not pronounced Ch-nakah
The C is silent in Chanukah
So get your hooked on phonica
Get drunk in Tijuanaka
If you really really wannaka
Have a happy happy happy happy Chanukah!

Adam Dec 14th, 2001 05:42 PM

Oh Capo!! You do know music, don't you? Jackie Chanukah! That's a good one. But if you refer to the lyrics of the NEW song, you'll note that the "C" is silent. So sorry. Thanks for playin'.
Licht & Book Chick, RE: MC Lyte she's a rapper from Brooklyn from the late '80's thru today. She showed up on Janet Jackson's song/video "You Want This", y'know the one w/ all the girls ridin' around in a convertible? Geez Louise, am I the only one around here who has traded one addiction (music videos) for another (travel forums)?

Lauren Dec 14th, 2001 06:19 PM

I would substitute "Monica" for "Veronica" to update this ditty.

What do you think the odds are they will sing it on Saturday Night Live this week? I hope I did not miss it last week.

So,

Go tell Monica
To celebrate Chanukah

Adam Dec 14th, 2001 06:44 PM

Aw Lauren, I hate to burst your bubble but since I'm no longer on SNL I think the odds are pretty low. Unless of course, I make a guest appearance.

Great substitution! You win today's Chanukah prize! A dreidle. Ooh ahh!

Mom Dec 14th, 2001 06:58 PM

Adam, I just spoke to my Adam in Japan, he says hello ,he will be going to a lot of Christmas parties in Japan and you know how they like karaoke there~he will try to sing the Chanukah song there~I am sure he will be a big hit:)

Adam Dec 14th, 2001 07:24 PM

Mom, you are a riot! Tell him not to steal my act, though; Japan is a small country & I can still find him.

Adam Dec 15th, 2001 06:55 AM

Topping for the 6th night of Chanukah!

"Winona Ryder,
Drinks Manischewitz wine
Then spins a dreidle with Ralph Lauren & Calvin Klein"

Hey did you hear that Winona Ryder was caught shop-lifting @ Saks? If she spins a dreidle with Lauren & Klein why would she need to?

robin-k Dec 15th, 2001 07:46 AM

Adam:

Know you're no longer a regular on SNL, but maybe they'll let Hanukkah Harry make a guest appearance on the show tonight ???
amy Dec 15th, 2001 09:43 AM

LOVED reading the updated version of the chanukah song!!! many thanks!

and to susan-i can't believe matt lauer made such a big goof!!! but you must tell me what matt said after jerry's reply!!! i am a former today show watcher, now living in london and matt was starting to get on my nerves before we left-but what an idiot! please finish the story! thanks.

Susan Dec 15th, 2001 09:58 AM

It was Lisa who heard Matt Lauer and Seinfeld. Is there any more to tell, Lisa??

I always assumed Matt Lauer was a Chanukah-celebrator himself!

Mom Dec 15th, 2001 11:16 AM

Adam,my son Adam, teaches 3-6 yr old babies in Japan. They love to learn songs and sing along with him, he has had laryngitis this week and all of the babies think it is fun to whisper~so I can just picture all of these adorable Japenese babies, going home and singing the Chanuka song to their parents :0)

Adam Dec 15th, 2001 12:52 PM

Mom, that's so cute! Won't the parents be dumbstruck.
Yes, please Lisa let's here more about that interview. 'Course Jerry probably rendered him speechless.
Susan, I too thought he was a celebrator. If so, what a boob!
And Amy, you're welcome. Happy Chanukah
Topping Dec 15th, 2001 04:37 PM

Topping for the people who think this forum is boring~

Adam Dec 16th, 2001 05:29 AM

Thanks Topping. And I thought this is the one they meant specifically.

For the 7th day/night of Chanukah!

Lisa Dec 16th, 2001 05:57 AM

For all those waiting for Matt Lauer's reply. Well, here is the anti climax. It was hardly earth shattering. He just kind of mumbled something like "happy Hannukah then" (looking suitably embarrassed, I like to think)and went on to the next segment.

But I did like Jerry's typically deadpan response. I am so sick of people assuming that everyone celebrates Christmas. My kids used to get really upset when they were younger and well-meaning strangers would ask them if they have been good little boys and what is Santa bringing them?

meira Dec 16th, 2001 09:20 AM

Thank you all
Happy Hannuka to you too
from Israel
Meira
