Well, looking at the bright side, now I have something different to think about than worrying about driving the roundabouts in Scotland when we arrive there on Saturday :o)

My biggest fear (oh no!) is that my two binders of driving directions, castle information, hotel reservations, etc. will end up in a lost luggage pile somewhere. Not to mention the fact that my expensive cameras may disappear.

But better them disappearing than me or my family!

And, really, really, thank you and hats off to Scotland Yard and whoever else was involved in disrupting their plans.

What about cameras and film?

I heard the X-Ray machines that scan the check-in luggage will destroy your undeveloped film. That's why they always say to keep undeveloped film with your carry on luggage. Will travellers heading from the UK need to develop all their unprocessed pictures before they return?

Some of the reactions to today's travel announcements and terrorist warnings have been sad and some have been quite off the walls. I prefer to think of ways to cope. Did any one else (I did!) save the Virgin Atlantic plastic see-through back packs they were giving out a few years ago? A bit later they gave out smaller see-through just-the-right-size bags with red strings to put around your neck, to carry your travel documents, your passport and your wallet!!! (I saved that one too) Once again Virgin Atlantic scores. (I do not work for Virgin Atlantic.)

I still have a couple of see through Nickelodean mini-back packs that my kids got as part of an Embassy Suites promotion. Actually, one of those is here in my office, as part of my &quot;emergency evacuation kit&quot; that I keep here. (Okay, I office in the tallest building in downtown Dallas and after 9/11 I sort of freaked and brought a few essentials to the office &quot;just in case.&quot;)

The current US leadership claims the terrorists hate the western world because of our freedom.

I doubt this is true but if it is, they are winning this war because we keep giving-up freedom to remain free(?).

Global warming or not, let's quit financing the enemy by buying their products and get off the fossil fuel habit. Get out of the middle east entirely and let them fight one another over who gets which goat or camel.

We're in Scotland now and are scheduled to fly back to the US out of London next week. I hadn't even thought about my film. Maybe I should get it developed over here before returning home.

On another note, it would be nice to be able to bring a paper and pencil.

By mid September all luggage will be banned &amp; passengers will be required to board planes naked after having DNA samples, fingerprints, X-Rays &amp; intimate body searches.

You will also have to produce a notarised letter from your Minister to say that you are a Good God Fearing Christian &amp; not an EVile Islamic Fascist who hates our freedoms and wants to destroy our Country.

Once aboard you will be rendered unconcious until arrival where there will be a range of stores available to buy clothes &amp; other personal items but you will have to pay in USD using DCC

We are doing an RTW in September-October that requires two connections at LHR. Flying to &amp; from Australia without any books will be difficult. I just hope the inflight movies are reallly good.

Perhaps by then, we can buy books inside the secure zone to take on??

An awful lot of ranting on this thread. The conspiracy theorists on both side s always come out in a crisis. The Patriot Act however is definitely something the Bush administration wanted to do anyway. 9/11 was a good excuse to restrict many things.
