Oh , I remember casaque..from more years ago than I care to remember!<BR><BR>Duty free seems to have an extensive selection..but I don't think the prices are that great! Probably should make a list of what I can get things for here, then compare! Will be in CDG next month and may just do that!

Wow! Snob! That brings back OLD memories. It was hard to get then-I was told it came via the Bahamas and was a sort of substitute for Joy. <BR>Jody, do you remember who made it? Can you get it anywhere now? Funny how fragrances put you right back into some other time and place and totally circumvent thought processes.

Snob was made by Le Galion, maker of many memorable scents, and now a defunct company.<BR><BR>They also made:<BR><BR>Sortilege<BR>Cub<BR>Jasmin<BR>Megara< BR><BR>Snob was a complex floral, heavy on the rose note and could be considered similar to Joy.<BR><BR>It was the mystique of perfume, its advertising, the names, etc. that was partially responsible for my love of things French in general. For instance, the name "Sortilege" - meaning sorcery, bewitchery - set my little adolescent mind aflame with just what perfume could accomplish!<BR><BR><BR>

A friend is going to Paris in November and I've asked her to buy me some perfumes, as well as scented body lotions (I've just read that if you "layer" the scent, starting with body lotion, then perfume, it lasts longer). Are there any good discount stores? Or can she get all this at the duty free shops? The scents I'm most interested in are Quelques Fleurs and Boucheron Femme.

I really like the smell of "Diorissimo" by Christian Dior (obviously). It is made with Lily of the Valley. I think this fragrance dates to the late 50's or early 60's although I am not sure. A lot of French women wear it in Springtime -- especially around May 1st when one offers small "muguet" bouquets (French for Lily of the Valley). It's very nice to smell on a lady!

A woman I was dating had me pick up Izzy Miaki (sp?) when I was in Paris, and I think it smells great on her.

I like Lolita Lempicka; it was being featured at the huge Sephora on Champs when I was in Paris last time. I buy it here at home at Sephora or SFA.<BR><BR>I recently gave Lagerfeld's Chloe to my daughter for Xmas b/c that's the name of her infant daughter and my first grandchild! <BR><BR>The very first time I was in Paris in 1961 My Griffe was very popular and not available in US.

Amour de Caco..smells sweet like chocolate cake at first, but settles into sweet and spicey with wear. <BR>Coco by Chanel. I love the way it smells on me after a couple hours.

I wore Diorissimo for my wedding 12+ years ago. Whenever I wear it today, it reminds me of the joy I felt that day and I try to wear it each anniversary.<BR><BR>I used to love Anais Anais. In fact, for my wedding, I couldn't make up my mind between the two but chose Diorissimo. I'm glad I did b/c now Anais Anais seems too sweet/over bearing. <BR><BR>I also love L'Air du Temps and a scent by Jean Paul Gaultier (sp?). I don't know the name of the scent but it comes in the bottle that looks like a headless, corsetted woman. Both are a bit heavy for spring/summer but good winter scents in moderation. <BR><BR>But, I must admit that my favorite perfumes right now are not French--at least I don't think they are since they are marketed under Clinque and Estee Lauder--Happy and Pleasures.

Gardenia by Fragonard is my all-time fave! I understand they have discontinued it now. Does anyone know where I might be able to find some left-over bottles? <BR><BR>Frangipane by Chantecaille is my second favourite but I cannot get it in Canada either. So sad!

Fun thread. Years ago my dad brought back from Paris a perfume called "snob" made by Le Galleon (sp) which is now out of business. That will always be my favorite fragrance, but Joy is a good stand-in; always wonderful except in the heat of summer when it's so overwhelming it makes my head swim. Au Sauvage for men. Also makes my head swim!

My favorite has always been Le De Givenchy.. but it has been discontinued.<BR>(Even waiters used to comment...)Since Givenchy recently reintroduced L'Interdit (sp?) I hope they'll do the same with Le De. I've been able to buy toilet water (Le De) from perfumehut.com<BR>which at least gives me a little reminder of this glorious perfume.

Does anyone remember a perfume called "Bleu de France"? My husband used to bring it home to me from business trips, and it was only sold in the Paris airport. Now it is discontinued. My husband has searched every resource, and we looked everywhere in Paris. It was "my scent", and my husband and my children identified me with it. Does anyone know of anything else that smells like it? We have not found anything that comes even close. I would love to have my signature fragrance back!

Joy, Channel #5 are my favorites. I think it is because my late mother always wore those two, so it reminds me of her:) I am wearing L'Heure Bleue by Guerlain today, as it is a different scent. I had a very hard time finding this scent in the states. Since I now reside in Germany, I see it everywhere. As for my hubby he prefers I wearing nothing at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (he is a man, after all). Happy tuesday

Last week in Paris, my wife bought the perfume "Paris" for herself and Chrome for me. Both are terrific.

My current favorite is "Charlotte" by Annick Goutal. I cherish it because it is so pricey here.<BR><BR>Anyone know if (and where) you can buy "Bigarade" by Nina Ricci in the U.S.? I loved its citrus scent.
