Favorite experiences in London?
Returning to London in April. Looking for ideas of tours, restaurants, teas, "experiences" during a "slow travel"/ non-hectic week in the city.
At the top of my list = visiting the Royal Mews. So obviously, not the typical tourist list of "must sees" but other ideas that may not fall in the Top 10 things to do in London. |
Rare book room of the British Library?

I would second the rare book room, it was a very special visit.
The Temple Church, in the City of London. If there's a particular author or other famous person that you admire who had any contact with London, visit sites associated with that person. Bletchley Park is on my to-do list someday, as is the Highgate Cemetary |

A friend and I being chased down Cromwell Road by an irate bartender, after we'd scored after-hours drinks in his bar by posing as hotel guests.
Ah youth! That was back in 1971. |
Temple Church definitely.
Greenwich Observatory, Naval college, Queens House and Park with great cafe. Borough Market |
You've been to Hampton Court I presume?
Done some of the Thames walking path? My favorite London activity is to walk and sit and people watch on the South Bank promenade. |
Churchill War Rooms ( probably in Top Ten but so worthwhile)
Saatchi Gallery- King’s Road, Chelsea |
I was going to say the Hunterian Museum (at the Royal College of Surgeons) but they are closed till 2020 so instead I'll say the Old Operating Theater (The Old Operating Theatre Museum | The Old Operating Theatre Museum).

1. The Charles I exhibition at the Royal Academy is high on my list, if it's still on when you are there.
2. Afternoon tea at the Wallace Collection is always a good idea; for the museum and the tea. 3. Catch a movie at the Electric Cinema, Portobello Road |
Hampstead - London Walks
lunch on a sunny day at Spaniards Inn |
Camden Market is quite something, Borough Market and a walk in the City.

It's been a while since I've been to London, but I remember particularly enjoying Evensong at St. Paul's and a classical concert at Saint-Martin-in-the-Fields.
