Dinner get-together in Paris?

I am going to be in Paris between March 12 and March 23. Wondering if any of our Parisian posters or visitors are interested in getting together for dinner one evening while I'm there.

Traviata Feb 22nd, 2017 01:36 PM

Hi Nikki,

We will be there at that time......still sorting out when and where after arrival, but, if at all possible, would love to join you.

rosiecaro Feb 22nd, 2017 06:24 PM

I will just be getting there at the end of your trip but it sounds fun!

FuryFluffy Feb 22nd, 2017 11:34 PM

Hi Nikki,
I'm not a frequent poster here but I like to crash a party...

I live at the edge of Paris.

kureiff Feb 23rd, 2017 07:23 AM

We'll be leaving on the 12th for London. I'm sorry to miss you!

AGM_Cape_Cod Feb 23rd, 2017 10:15 AM

Very sad that we won't be able to join you. :(

WoinParis Feb 23rd, 2017 10:27 AM

I'm always ok if there is food and wine.

Traviata Feb 23rd, 2017 10:28 AM

AGM.......especially sad that you won't be there :-(

Nikki Feb 23rd, 2017 11:47 AM

I think food and wine are guaranteed.

Let's pick a place and see if there is a date that works for most of us.

Suggestions for places are welcome. I'll give it a thought also.

So far, I could be available any evening between March 12 and March 23 except the 16, 17, 18, and 22. I'd like to pick a date now though because it is time to firm up tickets and things.

Traviata Feb 23rd, 2017 01:57 PM

Hi Nikki,

Where are you staying? I am in the 5th.....I have a couple of places to suggest, will have a better feel for timing in a few days.....

allisonm Feb 23rd, 2017 03:09 PM

Arriving on the 24th.

Nikki Feb 23rd, 2017 06:53 PM

Traviata, I will be in the Batignolles.

I would like to pick a date in the next couple of days so I can work around it with other plans.

rialtogrl Feb 23rd, 2017 06:56 PM

Darn it, I arrive on the 24th too. Would have loved to join. Bummer! (Maybe next time.)

rosiecaro Feb 24th, 2017 04:01 AM

I am free 21,22, or 23. I will be staying near the Bastille but that won't matter and I can go wherever the group decides we want to dine. I have Reed, Bistrot Du Henri, l'Ange 20 and Le Soufflé on my personal
to do list for this trip. But really anywhere is good and I love to try new places.

Nikki Feb 24th, 2017 04:56 AM

Since I am not free the 22, can we agree on the 21 or 23? When is everyone available?

WoinParis Feb 24th, 2017 05:08 AM

21 is perfect for me - I'm most tuesdays in Paris.
Once we agree I can do the reservation - I speak French fairly well. Since I was born actually.

FuryFluffy Feb 24th, 2017 05:44 AM

21 is okay to me (unless anything comes up).

I can go with any restaurant, as long as they have good food. Good wine is a bonus, but a proverb in my country say: Good accompany is a must, good wine is optional (it's actually a folk poem which says much more sophisticated things than that, but I can't translate it.)

As for my definition of good food, I don't even know what it is, so don't pay attention to me ;)

Traviata Feb 24th, 2017 06:41 AM

21st looks okay for me at this time.....I would love to go to L'Ange 20 based on MaiTai Tom's recommendation.......

Nikki Feb 24th, 2017 07:22 AM

Looks like everybody who has responded so far that they'll be around is available the 21. Shall we settle on that date and if anyone sees this in the meantime who is available on the 21 they can join in?

So far it looks like there are 6 people?

Nikki, FuryFluffy, WoinParis, rosiecaro, and Traviata (assuming your husband is joining us, Traviata).

Traviata Feb 24th, 2017 07:42 AM

DH is away from Paris that week, so it will be just me....what about L'Ange 20?? Anyone else interested in meeting there?

Nikki Feb 24th, 2017 08:32 AM

L'Ange 20 appears to be closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Traviata Feb 24th, 2017 10:19 AM

Alas Nikki, you are right....closed Tuesday.

I always recommend Le Petit Pontoise .....never disappoints, and Wo has mentioned L'Estrepade.......Lilane is lovely also.....

AGM_Cape_Cod Feb 24th, 2017 01:29 PM

Philou is open on Tuesday.

Nikki Feb 25th, 2017 05:45 AM

Good point, AGM. If we go to Philou, should we save a seat (or two) for you?

OK, there are a bunch of suggestions here. I have been to Philou and loved it and plan to go back on this trip if possible, so that might be an idea for our group.

I have not been to Le Petit Pontoise, L'Estrepade, Lilane, Reed, Bistrot d'Henri or Le Souffle. I will take a look at them.

Anyone have any preferences?

Wo, you eat out in Paris a lot? Any favorites that would be fun for a group?

One thing about this thread is it's making my lislt of places to try longer. So many restaurants, so little time.

fuzzbucket Feb 25th, 2017 10:53 PM

Philou is probably a lot cheaper than any of the other places that were mentioned - without wine, of course.
Le Petit Cambodge is just around the corner from Philou - actually, there are two of them. Very good Vietnamese food.

rosiecaro Feb 26th, 2017 05:02 AM

I am good with any of them they all look good and most are on my list! But We will be dining on Sunday May 21 right? So L'Ange is not out of the question. And My interest is from MaiTaiTom postings too!

Traviata Feb 26th, 2017 05:37 AM

rosie...it is March 21st, not May .......:-(

Nikki Feb 26th, 2017 05:45 AM

Our gathering is being planned for Tuesday, March 21.

Rosiecaro, does this mean you are not going to be in Paris then?

I am going to propose Philou. Nobody has objected so far, I loved it the one time I was there, and we are told it is probably the most economical of our choices.

Everyone who has responded, please weigh in and tell us whether you will be there and whether Philou will work for you.. Thanks!

FuryFluffy Feb 26th, 2017 09:40 AM

I'll be there on 21 Mar. I have no idea about Philou so it's gonna be great (I love nouveauté).

rosiecaro Feb 26th, 2017 03:46 PM

I wish, x2. But no I am going in MarY and totally blonded out. i was so excited to get to meet some of you all.

ltr Feb 26th, 2017 04:46 PM

I will be there from March 11 to 17th,so I will miss your dinner, but will everyone please carry your orange Fodors bag around so I can recognize you and say Hi?

WoinParis Feb 26th, 2017 04:56 PM

Philou is nice. been twice. With fodorites.
No need for an orange bag for me I have my green backpack !

Traviata Feb 27th, 2017 04:38 AM

I will be in Paris in a week and have discovered a snag in my plans for dinner on the 21st. Likely I won't make it, but, will try to work on it after I arrive. I'll be in touch if I can see you all........will keep watching.....also, I'll be in Paris for a bit afterwards....into April....hopefully there will be another opportunity to meet.....disappointed :-(

Nikki Feb 27th, 2017 05:45 AM

Traviata, I could probably work out a time to meet you too during my stay if you know your schedule.

Nikki Feb 27th, 2017 05:48 AM

So it looks like we might be three for dinner on March 21: WoinParis, FuryFluffy, and myself. And it looks like we are all OK for Philou.

Wo, would you like to make a reservation?

Traviata Feb 27th, 2017 06:30 AM

Nikki......I would like it so much if we could get together...when I get there I will have a better feel for when and where....I will be in touch.

Sarastro Feb 27th, 2017 10:30 AM

Things just changed and I shall be in town on the 21st of March. If you can make room for us, Mrs. Sarastro and I should love to join everyone for dinner.

Nikki Feb 27th, 2017 11:34 AM

Oh good. Wo, change that to a reservation for five.

WoinParis Feb 27th, 2017 11:42 AM

Ok. I do.

Nikki Feb 27th, 2017 12:59 PM

Merci!

I know I should have said s'il vous plait before, now that I look at it it does seem a bit brusque.
