Lots of fun trips!
We leave for Cambridge UK July 17th. Four glorious weeks. Planning weekend trips to Dublin and Scotland. I am NOT ready at all, a bit nervous actually, since I have yet to book train or plane for our weekends. It is our 3rd summer in Cambridge, but my first trip to both Ireland and Scotland! I am sure a weekend at each will be much too short, but we are excited anyway. |
66 days until Italy- Flights and accomodation reserved. Car will be leased this week.
Levanto,Tuscany,Venice, Lake Garda, Piedmont and Nice,France. 3 weeks total. Looking so forward to returning to Venice. Levanto, Lake Garda and Lucca will be new to us. |
12 days before I go to rome for 7 days, with a possible daytrip.
I need to photocopy my tourist guide text and restaurant recommendations and to maybe go over the text once more. Hotel, 2 walking tours and possibly the Borghese gallery visit (haven't got a reply from them yet) are all booked. It's my first time in Rome and I'm thinking about going to Italy again in Ocotber. This year I'm trying to take 3 shorter trips as opposed to last year's 2 longish, so I get to experience Europe more often. Early or mid June is looking like 1.5 days in Paris and 6 in Copenhagen, although I keep changing my mind. For the moment, eagerly waiting to eat good Italian food, visit museums and walking around the city. I have absoluetely no picture in front of my eyes of how Rome should look like, which makes me happy - It's going to be a total surprise. |
Tamara - thanks! But I promise that I don't need to go away to go wild - haha! ;-)
|
Yikes - 5 days til Germany and I'm not packed! This will be the second trip for my hubby and myself, but the first for our 17 year old! I am so excited to be taking her to Germany.
We'll visit family for the first 4 days, then off to the mountains for the rest of the trip. Yeah! Now where was that thread about packing light..... H |
15 days till Rome and Florence for 10 days. Scavi tour,Borghese Gallery, Ufizzi, Accademia all booked. Itinerary is all planned with side trips to Tivoli and Ostia Antica.
Guided tours of Vatican, Colosseum, Forum and Florence. Looking forward to good food! |
My next confirmed trip is to the West Coast. My man and I booked tickets for Seattle this week, leaving NYC on my birthday (7.22) and a return ticket from LAX. He took two weeks off and I'm a teacher (you know what that means! Send your hate mail to [email protected]) Our plan is to spend a few days in Seattle, hop a train down the coast to Eugene and Portland, then hit San Francisco before ending up in LA where we'll meet up with the lovely Tam (http://tamaraeden.blogspot.com), that you all know and love from the Fodors' forums. Our day-to-day itinerary is not worked out yet but you can track our progress at http://upthedownstaircase.typepad.com/costero_del_amor.
Potential in-between trips are jaunts to Toronto and Atlanta...Toronto likely, Atlanta, bloody expensive! |
August 28th I will be landing in Roma, my beautiful native city.
After a couple of weeks I will be heading to Provence and Paris..I shall return September 26. I am overly excited because this time I will be traveling in style," Business class" and my ticket is free..thanks to AA Advantage miles club. Cin Cin to All...:) |
13 days until Paris! Flying out the 17th and coming home the 28th.
Well, the important parts of getting ready have been taken care of! I booked flights last Thursday and on Friday reserved my spot in a week long class at ELFE (also hoping the afternoon wine class takes place!) I'm waiting for a co-worker to reply to my email about crashing on the sofa bed in the corporate apt. Lucky devil was transferred to the Paris office for a year! If I get the sofa bed I'll book a nice hotel for my last three nights as a treat. If no sofa bed then I'll find some budget options for the entire trip. Maybe split the stay between a couple and get a chance to try out new places. This is my third trip to Paris, but my first solo. About a year and a half ago I decided I wanted to spend my 30th summer in Paris taking the month long language course at the Sorbonne and then a few extra weeks to travel around the country--my husband was going to join me for the last week or two. I've spent that year and a half slowly saving up the funds in my special Paris '06 savings account. THEN I was cast in a show that attracted some attention and we're re-opening in June with an open-ended run! Which is awesome, but means no summer in Paris. The cast and director were sympathetic and we found a way to carve out these 10 days for me. Bless 'em. I'm most looking forward to my language course. And also experiencing Paris on my own! (and the Fodors GTG) |
just one week til we fly to paris to meet up with my brother and wife whom i have not seen for awhile.
really anxious to show them around. their first trip, and our fourth. i have gotten so many wonderful recommendations from here, but not enought time to use even a small portion of them this time! fly out to barcelona after paris, then after showing them that fun city, we take a train home to valencia just in time for the last two crazy days of fallas. |
Flygir;l!
In exactly 42 days, headin' for France for the umpteenth time...we've experienced all regions except Alsace which we're including for a barge trip in the Strasbourg-Lorraine stretch. Briefly touched Strasbourg several decades go and was impressed with the town, the encircling river Ells and the architecture. First, we're going direct to Provence and Cote d'azur, one of our favorite regions...going to be in Tourettes sur Loup for a week and in and around St. Remy for another week, using both as bases for day-tripping before joining up with the barge in Strasbourg...ending with a four day visit to Paris. All ressies made, flights confirmed, taking TGV from CDG to Avignon to pick up car, and returning it to Avignon, and training to Strasbourg, and then from Stras to Paris. I see where RobJame is going to be in St. Remy a few days after we leave...you'll enjoy the vicinity, I'm certain. Everyone, have fun, and feed your travel bug well....never let it die! Stu T. |
Possibly not a good response for a European thread, but as a European who has just come back from 3 weeks in Cape Town, we are eagerly awaiting our next trip there in Jan. 2007 - 6 weeks this time. The only problem is that we cant actually book a flight this early, but have already booked our accomodation. Sun, palm trees, great wine, good food, and wonderful scenery. Plus a country that has a lot of challenges, but seems to be meeting them more than some others. Lots to look forward to. I have to admit that before that we will probably be in Toronto to see family. Has its own benefits, but not quite the same.

Pakabug - Bastille Day in Paris is *amazing*! Just make sure you get up fairly early and make your way over to the Champs-Elysee to get a good place on the side as the crowds get pretty deep. The aircraft flying over was a sight to behold. Later in the afternoon over at the Ecole Militaire, there were parachutists jumping out of helicopters way up high and landing in the area. Pretty spectacular.

wow, this is great! so many trips coming up for so many people.

Next trip....to Los Angeles in 12 days. Going with my younger son, 12 yo, to visit my sister and BIL. First trip to LA as sis just moved there from NYC in August.
Looking forward to fun with family, Malibu/Santa Monica, Getty Center, Hollywood Blvd, and Disneyland/California Advernture. Just doin' the LA thing. Oh, and some warm sunny weather would be great! Everything is organized as far as flights and rental car, but no packing done yet. Better start sorting through some warm weather clothing. Next Europe trip...June 16th for 2 weeks. Staying in Wengen, Milan, Lake Garda, and Venice. Second time to Italy, but first in Switzerland. First visit to Northern Italy - all cities new. Air is booked as are hotels. Still need to work out train schedules. I have tons of notes from this forum and trip advisor. Looking forward to seeing Swiss Alps, Last Supper and Duomo in Milan, scenery and outdoor dining along Lake, and everything in Venice. Of course, can't wait for great meals and lots of gelato. |
26 days to French Polynesia. 3 nights in Papeete, and 10 nights in Bora Bora. And I am definitely ready!
((S))((*)) |
5 Days to italy! I'm not ready....still need to get everything together, but I have my hotels, etc. I taking my 17 year old sister - so I want everything to be perfect!
|
88 days to wheels up. 4 days in Rome, 4 days in Athens (for my nieces wedding), 4 Days in Santorini. First time in all places! My husband has pointed out that I've spent more time on these sights researching the trip than we'll actually spend ON the trip. Oh well, I think that's half the fun.
Fun4All4... Hopefully we'll have nicer weather here in So Cal by the time you get here. Everything is relative, but highs in the 50's and rain is a little tough on us softies that live here. :) |
I'm going to the WORLD CUP, baby! And it's a "boys" only trip.
Due to work commitments (new job) I had to cut the trip down to 9 days from 17 :-( but it's better to have travelled and returned than never to have travelled at all. We will spend 5 nights in Munchen - one of my travelling mates has a step-nephew who lives there and we are going to get tapped into the local sports viewing scene - can you imagine staying and partying with a baseball fanatic from Boston during the World Series? Then we are off to Nurnberg for three nights - that's where we have tickets to a game. I have never been to Nurnberg (6 times to Germany) so I am really looking forward to this part of the trip. Finally, 1 night in Rothenburg, just cause I love that damn place so much and my friends have never been there. Oh my, the beer, the beautiful beer ( Bamberg, Kulmbach - Daddy's coming home soon!), the pork "everything", and the sweet rich breads. Did you ever feel you should have been born somewhere else? I know some people will say that it wouldn't hold this much allure for me if I lived there, but I would be so ready to try and prove them wrong. Heaven... I'm in heaven.... Oh yeah, and then maybe the Amalfi Coast in September - ehhh! |
TOMORROW MORNING! ISRAEL!
even that flying elephant is strangely not annoying today :) |
| All times are GMT -8. The time now is 01:54 AM. |
