ATTENTION ALL CHOCOLATE LOVERS
Our wildest dreams have been answered, It therapeutic... A travel tip we'll all love!!

http://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/0,...304763,00.html
Jody
Excellent! So I should pack a pound of chocolate "for medicinal purposes"!
More importantly, can we bring back a few dozen pounds for purposes of self-medication?????
BC
Think my HMO will cover it if I get a doctor's prescription?
It's gotta be dark, though. :~)
See Chocolate is good for the heart as well as the soul. No surprise to me! Now I will be looking for the flight attendents coming down the aisle with cups of hot chocolate! Callebaut for international travel and Hersey's for domestic.

JOdy, I LOVE you, finally an excuse to indulge in my favorite thing in the whole world. Now I just have to find reasons for making that long flight! (not to mention the money!)
yeah... only dark chocolate!
Ursula, I was never a big fan of dark chocolate until my first trip to the continent, to Germany & Switzerland, in 1980. It once seemed to strong, too bitter...but now milk chocolate seems too bland by comparison.

Statistics on fans of dark chocolate: they have a more sophisticated palate, occupy the minority of chocolate lovers in the USA, tend to be college-educated & earn more money than fans of milk or white chocolate.

Capo, thanks for the invitation. (I'm starting to feel the strong pull of the Bay of Angels, shellfish galore, and lots of dark chocolate.......)

BC
BC: See.. we are the real connoisseurs! When you go to a nice coffee place here, you usually get a small chocolate with it... dark, of course!
White chocolate, ugh. :-(
We fell in love with Swissair when they passed out chocolate bars instead of peanuts...
Dark, the ONLY way to go! Now we're finding out who on this board has "the more sophisticated palate".
Linda, welcome to the club! :-)

Elvira,.. and now you always fly Swissair? What about taking some chocolate with you, when flying a different air line?
Folks, try the "Teuscher" chocolate truffles. I think they are sold in the US, too. At least in NYC.
www.teuscher.com
Dark of course!
Another one for Dark
Jody, now how did I know that?
I propose a new slogan...

Got Dark?

(My apologies to our European chocolate aficionados, who may not get the reference.)
And let me "weigh in" here -- DARK ;)
Swissair also serves good ice cream :) [and has *cute* stewards -- sorry Capo:)]
Sally: The "club" is growing!

It's probably Mövenpick ice-cream. Yes, great, especially while watching a good movie.
.. and what a disappointment for Capo, now!
KLM Royal Dutch (prior to the merger with Northwest)used to serve some of the best hot chocolate I ever drank, along with giving bars of chocolate to the passengers. I frankly got to a point where I didn't really care if we landed!
:)

BC
Capo: Yeah, you got it right, because I don't get it!

Sally: Can you pls mail explanation to me! Thanks so much.
@-->-->-->-----
Ursula, since you don't like beer, will you have some dark chocolate with me?
Another vote for the great chocolate in Europe.
cheers,
Art
another dark chocolate lover here.

Just wanted to let you all know that not only Swiss Air but also Cross Air (still SA) serves chocolate.
Only problem is it is mostly always milk chocolate.
Dark chocolate - at least 70% cocoa. I thought I didn't like chocolate until I had this. My husband swears that chocolate constitutes three of the four food groups (he changes what the fourth one is all the time!). I'm glad to see that we have sophisticated palates, too ;-) Here's to chocolate!!
Art, hi! Nice to see you! Dark chocolate with you, sure! Where, when??
Will be off Sept. 29 to Oct. 12 (Djerba island). But after that date, kein Problem!
Enjoy YOUR trip!
PS: Did you pack what you need for Europe??
Elena,

1) Sugar

2) Salt

3) Fat

4) Chocolate

BC
Ursula, for a number of years an industry group called Dairy Management has been running an ad campaign here in the U.S. with the tag line "Got Milk?"

http://www.usatoday.com/money/index/ad047.htm
Capo, thanks so much. I will have a look at that web page tomorrow. It's getting late over here.
PS: Did you have the chance to see "Vatel"? Remember, don't go hungry, but take some chocolate with you! ;-)
BOOKCHICK.. we all know chocolate is derived from the cocoa BEAN..so we can classify it as a VEGETABLE! Also contains The vitamin P ( for peasure) essential for a strong body and a healthy mind! And it aacts a a natural anti-depressant , at least it does to me!!
The four food groups.
Beer - grain
Ice Cream - Dairy
Spam - Meat
Chocolate - Vegetable
Thanks, Art. I'm not a vegetarian yet, but after reading your posting, I'm darned close to becoming one.

BC
Visit the chocolate factory in Cologne, just one more reason to visit this city.
Dark Chocolate rules my body and mind. Ate a box today, and No I am not a fat American, just a happy one.
Dark - - though there's nothing wrong with a white chocolate chip-macadamia nut cookie to go with a good Godiva truffle or two.

You know - - for balance...

Best wishes,

Rex
Dark... gotta be dark. Started out as a child with a palate only sophisticated enough to know that the Hershey's semi-sweet chocolate squares were much better than the milk chocolate. Moved on to "Forever Yours" candy bars in my teens. Now I'm seriously into a local chocolatier's dark chocolate covered butter creams. Refrigerate, then let them melt in your mouth!
What I haven't figured out yet is how long the prophylactic effect lasts.
I mean, do we have to eat a pound of the good stuff just at the start of the flight, or every four hours?
Rex, a medical opinion?
Definitely dark (since adolescence). Definitely Sharffen Berger here in the Bay Area. Definitely Jean-Paul Hevin in Paris.

Elaine, I think a beginning dose of a pound at the beginning of the flight and then additional doses every four hours, or sooner if needed, would be about right.

Oops, almost forgot Double Rainbow chocolate sorbet (no fat) a dark, dark chocolate treat available at Trader Joe's. Far, far superior to any other chocolate sorbet I've ever sampled. I'm headed there a little later this morning. Yes!
Oh my god - Teuscher champagne truffels are the best in the world _ I think so far. They do sell them in NYC at their store in Rockefeller Center. They are flow in weekly from Switzerland.

Liz
