Thanks jranger! That's helpful to hear from someone who has used that company and recently too.

littlehouse,

Check the reviews of Paris apartments on www.slowtrav.com. There are a few reviews for Vacation in Paris. One from last year, was favorable of both the apartment and the agency.

Do let us know what you decide. Thanks.

Thanks CW, checking that out right now!!

2 and 3. Love the location of 2.

stokebailey Oct 12th, 2007 05:08 PM

yes!

littlehouse Oct 13th, 2007 10:20 AM

stokebailey, is your yes for a vote for 2 or are you just really excited about Paris? :)

tomassocroccante Oct 13th, 2007 10:42 AM

I'd say the little loft bed over the kitchen in one apt. is a bonus bed - will appeal to people with a young teen, for instance. Most people aren't going to use it at all - except maybe to stow their empty baggage. ;)

Sorry, littlehouse. I got all enthusiastic. You probably can't go wrong, though Rue Cler would be lower on my list.

We like being high up, don't mind stairs, value quiet, and like being near markets, so we kind of make a priority list and go with that.

From your list, I'd jump on either #2 or #5. I'd look closely at jranger's recommendation, too.

arewethereyet Oct 13th, 2007 09:35 PM

Funny, I was just about to post my own regarding #2 (I thought I'd need to wait until tomorrow since it's so late for most, but since we're all up and discussing Paris apartments...

I was also considering this one:

I like #2 also, but everyone seems to love Le Marais so much! Is the 1st as desireable a location?

stokebailey Oct 14th, 2007 07:27 AM

Oooh. I want that one, too.
For my money, I like staying in the 15th for a more authentic neighborhood feeling, but my family wants to be closer to touristic areas next time.

(I liked it that the boulangerie woman had me figured out by the third day, and appeared charmed that I'd come from the US. Try that in the 1st. I go for the intangibles.)

tomassocroccante Oct 14th, 2007 07:46 AM

arewethereyet, that's a cute apt.

Don't forget, the 1st borders the 4th! I'd say that as anywhere, the larger area doesn't decide it: there are streets in the Marais (or any quartier) that are too noisy or have less charm. There are quiet and lovely corners in other neighborhoods. And therein lies the challenge - just like looking for a home - to get the space you like in a place you like, with the right amount of air, light, convenience ... and at your price!

arewethereyet Oct 14th, 2007 09:42 AM

tomassocroccante, I'm going to start a new thread so as not to take over this one. I'll give specific directions to the 2 apts. and maybe you or someone will know the immediate neighborhood.

littlehouse Oct 14th, 2007 12:05 PM

Okay so it looks like a should go with #2 but now with all your awesome advice, I may look at some other options.
Arewethere--I'm going to your thread now!!

Well this winner of an apartment was taken for the time we wanted it.
Any other suggestions would be great?

littlehouse Oct 15th, 2007 05:15 PM

Seafox--
Could you let us know which apartments you rented from the 3 agencies you mentioned?

seafox Oct 16th, 2007 11:54 AM

As follows:

www.rentparis.com
The one bedroom at 20 rue Chapon is huge and lovely, the one bedroom at 40 rue chapon is very small but a good value
www.vactioninparis.com
ID125 St. Hoore - louvre - very nice and good location
www.parisvacationapartments.com
Palais royal 2 bedroom triplex is perfect for 2 couples. We will be staying in the 3 bedroom duplex next month and I'll post a comment - although I suspect we will be very pleased!

littlehouse Oct 16th, 2007 02:20 PM
