“How does a man who loves food that much still smoke cigarettes?”

Kind of like wearing dark sunglasses to a Matisse exhibit?

(I kind of think StCirq missed your point )

Don't watch him too often but I like his looks, too.

kismetchimera Sep 21st, 2007 08:20 AM

Beauty in in the eyes of the Beholder..I find him an interesting character.

He could be the Poster Child of a Typical Newyorker, brashy, cocky , very sure of himself.

I enjoy watching his shows and in his own way, he has a lot of Sex appeal..

kismetchimera Sep 21st, 2007 08:22 AM

typo error..beauty is(not in)

BTilke Sep 21st, 2007 08:24 AM

I like him, but only in limited doses. A while back, one of the travel channels (in the UK) ran an AB marathon. After the third episode, his shtick became less entertaining and more irritating. He's the Richard Quest of travel show hosts.

LAwoman Sep 21st, 2007 08:31 AM

I love it when the Travel Channel runs an AB marathon. You really feel like you've been somewhere at the end of one of his shows. They're not about food so much, more about life in another culture, like Globetrekker. And I agree - the guy's hot.

travel2live Sep 21st, 2007 08:56 AM

While I do not agree that he is good looking (doesn't really matter, anyway) and find his personality grating he is witty and intelligent. And a brilliant writer. And he does go to interesting destinations. And is an adventurous eater like I am. It is still not enough to make me watch an entire episode - just cannot sit through it! Sorry, girls. I have tried, though!

Give me Tyler Florence - he is a totally different story.

laartista Sep 21st, 2007 08:57 AM

Now you're talking. Tyler Florence-yummy!

Chicago_Heather Sep 21st, 2007 09:14 AM

Thank you for the heads up on the new show. I absolutely love the show and, personally, I find Anthony Bourdain smoking hot. :S-

cheryllj Sep 21st, 2007 09:27 AM

I'm a fan of AB and his show. As far as whether he's "good looking," I don't know if I'd go that far. He's not conventionally handsome, but he's definitely very *sexy* -- it comes more from his intelligence, confidence, general attitude.

kismetchimera Sep 21st, 2007 10:33 AM

Florence Tyler is an adorable Teddy Bear and is the epithome of how an American boy should look, at least that is the way that people of different countries imagine when they think about Americans.
Comparing these two is like comparing Chamomille tea versus Espresso.
One is calm, relaxed, friendly, the other is witty, noisy full of Pep.

vjpblovesitaly Sep 21st, 2007 11:11 AM

"that is the way that people of different countries imagine when they think about Americans."

I thought they imagined Michael Moore.

Just kidding.

LAwoman Sep 21st, 2007 12:01 PM

Tyler Florence is the fantasy. Michael Moore is the reality.

sandi_travelnut Sep 21st, 2007 12:11 PM

Tyler is the teddy bear, beginning to get a little overstuffed but cute as hell. Anthony is the polar opposite but somehow intriguing in a slightly dangerous and seductive way. Plus he's funny and does find a way to stop down and really "get" what he's seeing or doing.

travel2live Sep 21st, 2007 02:59 PM

Ha ha - overstuffed. Funny.

Still don't see any sex appeal in Tony but what the heck? Not everyone can! I do appreciate the fact that he is not presumptuous - hate that trait.

Met Jamie Oliver last year - very nice and down to earth.

laartista Sep 21st, 2007 03:00 PM

Oh, Jamie Oliver, he's my favorite. Even better than Tyler.

kismetchimera Sep 21st, 2007 03:42 PM

I never cared about Jamie..

Overstuffed, yes the cute Teddy bear is getting chubbier everyday..What a pity because he is such adorable little boy..:)

Don`t find AB attractive at all. His clothes always seem dirty to me, especially his jeans.

laartista Sep 21st, 2007 05:07 PM

OMG, Yes, it IS the jeans thing and they are tapered too!

sandi_travelnut Sep 22nd, 2007 05:25 AM

He has that typical 80's rock star attire. I know, I married one. I mean what man wears tight cut off jeans as shorts on national TV? Love his vintage Tshirts though. I really like Jamie Oliver too, what a sweet little lisp.
