How does a man who loves food that much still smoke cigarettes?

He definitely has quite a following, but I find him boorish and a bit full of himself. Just MHO.

Plenty of major chefs in Europe and elsewhere smoke cigarettes. Plenty of them are hard-drinking, whoring bastards, too. I personally don't care as long as they remain impassioned about their food. Americans are so judgmental about the small stuff....and so oblivious to the big picture. I don't give a rat's behind if Tony smokes. I'd sure like us to get out of Iraq with a shred of international dignity, though.

wanderlust- i tend to agree with you. but recently i saw an episode of his show where they were 'trapped' in beirut when the conflict broke out last year. it was really interesting.
he also did a great show about peru. i lived there for a few years, so that country has a special place in my heart. i will watch the tuscany show since i'll be travelling there next month - can't have too many recommendations!

I don't like his show--he comes across as trying too hard to be cool and he wears his pants too high--but dang! he is HOT. Yowza. Someone get me a fan.

So, yes, I watch for that reason.

I like his show too. He had a really interesting one Bourdain in Beirut that took place during the Beruit bombings last summer. He never did get to cover food ,more about him being there and getting out. Anyway I too will set the dvr for the Tuscan episide.

Laartista, that was a really interesting show and I'm glad he decided to air it. What an ordeal Tony and his crew went through!!

I liked the episode in South Korea. His assistant was so vivacious and seemed to get the best of him -- I loved it!

He's not only good to look at (and very entertaining/funny) but he's a good writer, too. Have read (actually re-read) all of his books & recommended them to friends.

I wish I had known about the South Korea show...I would have liked to see him eat the live octopus I had to sample a few months ago! And the horse meat sashimi! He probably ate the dog meat as well!

He IS a good writer and he also knows his way around a kitchen..I think he is single now, too!

I believe he isn't single any more...and has a new baby :)

Funny, hell yes! Entertaining,Very. Good looking, No way. But that's subjective. I've always had a huge crush on Charlie Rose, so who am I to say.

Not kidding. He has the same kind of snarky intelligent sense of humor that makes me lust him, and Bill Maher too.

You KILL me! You are very funny and make me laugh out loud. Anthony, in my opinion, is definitely not good looking (I'll try to be diplomatic so won't say anything further about his appearance) but he is quirky - I'll give you that!
