Thanks, Jor. But I'm not so sure about fireworks between Uncle Sam and anybody. Seems to me he'd get along quite well, philosophically & politically anyway, with Snoopy, for example. They both seem to detest the word "liberal."

Came in tonight expecting to see a post about the Amazing Race winning an Emmy, but scrolling down the first 50 didn't find anything. So thought I would be the first to say HOORAY!! Hope that this will encourage a sponsorto back them and we will have another Amazing Race.

Giovanna -
I practically jumped out of bed when they won. My first thought was "now CBS has to keep this going & who's going to be the first to post it?" Unfortunately, I was too comfy under the covers to post. So thank you for doing so - and here I am at 6:12am raving the win. |
The Amazing Race won an Emmy, eh? I second your "Hooray!" Giovanna. The show deserves that, and thanks for mentioning it.
|
Yehhhh!!! The best show won!! The TV critic in the newspaper couldn't understand how a show that nobody watches won over Survivor or American Idol --- because it is fun and unpredictable.

For those of us who live in Europe and don't get the show...what is it?

BTilke:
It's a show where (someone correct me) 12 couples have a race around the world, starting and ending on US soil. This year, the race started in LA, then off to Cortina then on to Vienna, France, etc. This year, the race also went through India, Australia, Korea, Hawaii... At each location, there is usually a stunt or competition the teams must complete before they can get the next clue and continue the race. It is very exciting and always full of reality-TV drama and tension. They are given a clue as to where they have to go next. The last team to arrives at that location |
I never watch award shows so didn't know Amazing Race won an emmy! Fantastic! BTilke, the Amazing Race involves several couples of varying - well, varying everything, age, sex, etc., going around the world with tests of skill, endurance, brainpower, and sheer tenacity. The winner of each segment (arriving first at the final location for that segment) gets a special prize - usually a trip somewhere, although after this adventure, I don't know if they will ever want to leave home again! The tests are incredible and the locations marvelous. It gives a peek into different countries and cultures, just enough to make this fan wish she was along for the ride! And one reason I like it compared to the other reality shows, the contestants, while not always the nicest folks you'd ever want to meet, don't appear to be interested in serious sabotage; just winning. It elevates the competition a bit. On this last show, the couples had to feed alligators, hit targets with arrows, find clues under piles of manure, grab fish out of traps, swing around on a windmill and they always have to figure out the best way to get "there" from "here" - it's very clever and exciting. Can't wait for the next show!

whooops, incomplete reply...
the last team to reach that week's location is sent home, therebby reducing the number of competing teams by one. The final episode is usually a race to the finish between the two or three final teams. This year's race was won by a gay couple (yay, us!), Chip and Reichen. Do a search on google.com for "chip reichen" and you can read all about it. |
Here's a link to the CBS website regarding TAR's most recent season:

Thanks for the good news Mariarosa. Had my fingers crossed and thought maybe the Emmy would clinch the deal. Look forward to seeing it this summer.

Have you looked at the application? Anyone who fills it in correctly deserves a prize!

Add my "Hoorays!" to the list. However, I'm just hoping that someone at CBS will read our last long thread on the Amazing Race and consider some changes to the format of the show to make it even more exciting. The first season had different (albeit harder and more costly to the producers) rules which they discarded in the next 3 seasons with a corresponding drop in viewers. This is a great opportunity for CBS to tweak this show and stop the routine from going stale. As I've attested before, it is my favourite reality show and I was bowled-over when they won the deserved emmy. Don't botch it now, CBS. (I tried to post my comments on the CBS website with no luck. Couldn't get to the comments page). |
THEY'VE SPLIT!!!!!!!!! Just announced on the official C/R website..AllAbout Reichen and Chip....they are seperating...not too many details but a lot of hope...
