I'll complain, but only in a whisper since 2T2L and Fargo are colder than where I am - here it is a balmy -27 below 0.

And I agree, I wish we'd convert to metric system, too. Even though I'll have to relearn almost everything.

It's -44 (a new record for this date) in Bismarck, the capital of North Dakota.

I live in Minot, ND, where it is "only" -40.

ms_go Jan 15th, 2009 06:28 AM

We're in the Fox Valley west of Chicago and just slightly below Grinsa (hi!) at -16F, up from -18F a few hours ago. Our schools also were cancelled. Today was a finals day and the last day of the semester at our high school; not sure how they'll handle that since they have all new classes when they go back next week.

TimS Jan 15th, 2009 06:46 AM

Hey! I thought that if I converted the temperature in Minot to Celsius, I might feel a little warmer. No such luck. -40 Fahrenheit = -40 Celcius.

Seriously, I have wished for years that the US would change over to the Metric system.

Seriously, I have wished for years that the US would change over to the Metric system.

Seriously, I was in 6th grade and received my first introduction to the Metric system because the US was to change over "very soon."

Ah, well ... that's over 30 years back, now. Guess we have been slow with the change over!

FrankS Jan 15th, 2009 07:03 AM

longboatkey,
You really know how to hurt a guy

Southwestern Germany: about 0, foggy and light snowfall. Typical winter weather here and a huge relief from the last week when we had under -10!

martharap Jan 15th, 2009 09:05 AM

Minus 25F in Iowa this morning. Up to minus 12F at noon!

yk Jan 15th, 2009 09:13 AM

Yes, I'll complain.

It is around 12F here in boston. It may dip below 0F tonight and tomorrow night. And we're invited to a pot-luck party tomorrow night. :(

It was 15F last night and I went to pick up my husband with my car. He normally walks home at night (35 min walk), but I felt bad he had to do that in the cold and in the dark.

weindell Jan 15th, 2009 09:26 AM

It's sunny and 58 degrees here in North Florida. It's supposed to go down into the TEENS tomorrow night.

rkkwan Jan 15th, 2009 10:30 AM

High is about 85F today in L.A. :D

AnnaLiffey Jan 15th, 2009 10:49 AM

It started out the morning at -17F here in MPLS. Now it's warmed up to all of -5F. Feels almost balmy. hehee...

Couldn't even get my car started this morning. Oops.

Poohgirl Jan 15th, 2009 12:03 PM

I'm so excited - it's finally up to being in the single digits below 0 Fahrenheit. HEAT WAVE!!!

SCFoodie Jan 15th, 2009 12:13 PM

81 F (that's 22 Celcius) in San Clemente, CA. But the down side is that the humidty is at just 14%. Very dry. More Santa Ana winds expected tonight and tomorrow.

SusanP Jan 15th, 2009 12:22 PM

The high today in Upstate New York was 5-10F. Tonight, it's going down to -10F with a windchill of -15 to -20. Haven't heard a peep about them closing school, though, and I work in the high school.

Cries_Van_Notebook Jan 15th, 2009 12:25 PM

It is so cold here in Philadelphia that I won't even walk over to the liquor store to buy a bottle of gin for lunch!!!!!!!!

SusanP Jan 15th, 2009 12:39 PM

Wow, Thin, that's COLD! :-d

kaleighsgram Jan 15th, 2009 01:01 PM

It's 14F (-10C) here in Connecticut. I already have cabin fever and am counting the days until warm weather.
Turned down an invitation to visit friends in Florida, something I attributed to stupidity (or brain freeze???).

eurogals Jan 15th, 2009 07:29 PM

It's about -21 not counting the windchill factor. Will be +30 on Monday, so will be like a warm day here in Minneapolis/St. Paul.
