The seapline flights depends on weather conditions. Chances are high that weather is bad in Ketchikan, so either the flights are cancelled or you will not see much. So, I would not book in advance...

A point to consider: We loved our balcony cabin because we saw so many whales from there. Theoretically, you can watch whales from the public deck space too, but from your balcony you see many more....
