BEST ALL INCLUSIVE?

Planning a carribean holiday and want THE BEST all-inclusive that's price isn't unattainable. Would like to spend around $3000/canadian total on trip.
Interested in beautiful beaches, relaxing atmosphere, lots to do at the resort, lots of variety in the food department, beautiful resort. Have you been to an all-inclusive that you would highly recommend. Thanks in advance.

BEACHES will be your best bet for an all-inclusive resort. You'll have the beach, all the amenitites, water sports included, food and alcoholic beverages included as well. The one draw back is that they are very generic places, almost too perfect, (think of disneyland). I prefer a unique resort that isn't part of a huge chain, although, the convenience of an all-inclusive is still what I look for. I'm searching for a place to go in July that will have the meals included, some water sports, and plenty of beach and quiet. Happy hunting.

Try any Club Med. in the area. There in no equal.

Are you a single, a couple, or a family? For singles traveling alone, nothing can beat Hedonism in Negril Jamaica. It it a constant 24 hour party on a lovely beach. It can be a little wild (toga parties, PJ parties, nude beach, etc) but you will meet lots of other people just out to have fun. Lots of Canadians there. It accepts only adults, couples and singles. If you are a couple, try Sandals anywhere. Negril is the most casual of the Sandals, Royal Jamaican in Montego Bay is one of the fanciest in Jamaica, but Sandals are on many islands. No kids, no singles, just heterosexual couples. Both of these suggestions are highly rated all-inclusives. May exceed your spending limit a little, unless you are looking at summer. If your money limit is firm, try Mexico instead like Cancun or Cozumel. If you do Cancun, stay AWAY from the Royal Solaris. It is crowded, poor service, and we had money stolen from our room there by a chambermaid.

Try Jack Tarr on St. Kitts. Drinks ar included and food is available somewhere almost any time of the day. There is the ocean across the street or a short bus ride to the caribbean. Lots of activites day and night. Prices here are better then most all inclusive. Have fun!

WHAT ABOUT THE FOLLOWING RESORTS? HAS ANYONE BEEN TO THESE ONES THAT WE ARE CONSIDERING FOR SPRING 99.

1)RADISSON CABLE BEACH RESORT & CASINO @BAHAMAS,CABLE BEACH

2)JAMAICA GRANDE, OCHO RIOS JAMAICA

3) BREEZES BAHAMAS, SUPERCLUB RESORT
4) BREEZES RUNAWAY BAY, JAMAICA

????????????????????????????????????THANKS!!!!!

I second the vote for Hedonism II in Negril, Jamaica! All inclusive, real pretty, good food, all you can drink, water sports, party atmosphere. If the nudism bothers you stay on the "prude" end of the resort as half the people do and still enjoy everything. A second choice for all-inclusive would be Pineapple Beach Club in Antigua. The best food you will find anywhere in the caribbean. Didn't even want to sleep in in the a.m. because we were afraid to miss breakfast. Wonderful staff and a little quieter than Hedonism. No nudity here.

I would highly recommend La Source in Grenada. I've been to many all-inclusives and this one had the best service, rooms, view and activities. Food is very good and drinks are top-shelf. Spa services are also included. I spent time scuba diving, swimming, hiking in the rain forest and relaxing on the beach or by the pool. Half the guests are Europeans who stay for 2 or 3 weeks at a time. Although most were couples, I went alone for 10 days and met all kinds of great people. The resort also has a sister resort in St. Lucia called Le Sport.

I've been doing some research on all inclusive resorts in the British Virgin Islands. Peter Island resort and Biras Creek resort are two that I've heard some great things about, but they are expensive. WWW.scubamom.com has articles on these. Long Bay Beach resort on Tortola sounds nice and isn't too pricey (www.longbay.com). This will probably be my choice for my honeymoon destination.

Hi. I noticed a lot of comments about HedonismII being esp for singles. My wife and I are planning our 10th anniv, and Hedonism II is one of our options. Did you find, as a couple, the resort to be primarily oriented towards young singles. we are in our early 30's, so age is no big factor. Wondering if Breezes Runaway Bay may be a better choice...
Thanks!

Jay Mar 19th, 1998 11:46 AM

For a 10th year anniversary, I would recommend something like the Lido resorts, Couples Resorts, or Sandles. Hedo may be toooo toooo, for a couple looking for romance.

laura Mar 19th, 1998 12:40 PM

Leslie, since you mentioned Breezes and Radisson
Cable Beach resort in the Bahamas, I just thought
I'd let you know that my husband and I were recently in the Bahamas, we stayed at Sandals Royal Bahamian ( which was great! ) and as we
were checking in , we got to talking to three other couples ( two were from Radisson, one couple from Breezes) that said they had checked out of their hotels and were checking in to Sandals. They said they were not happy at the other places. I
don't know if you're a couple, but I hope this
helps!

Debbie, my fiance and I are thinking of spending a week at La Source before going to Petit St. Vincent. These plans are for our August Honeymoon. Any comments on the weather in August? Also, comments on the different rooms at La Source. Thanks.

Lesley: I'm sure all the resorts mentioned are great. We've stayed at Sandals three times and loved each location...they ARE perfect but the price is not within the 3000. Canadian that you mentioned. We just returned from a trip to Gran Ventana in Puerta Plata, Dominican Republic. Despite our belief in "you get what you pay for" we had a fabulous trip at about 2500. Canadian. Spoke with friends who had travelled to Punta Cana and stayed at Bavaro for a bit more money - they liked it better than Sandals. Might be worth checking out. If I can tell you more about the Gran Ventana just email.

Dave Mar 23rd, 1998 06:27 AM

I will likely agree with the last message, my wife and I are going to Bavaro Beach in the Dominican. We are spending $2,260 US for one week. It is an all inclusive resort which sounds beautiful and from everything I have seen on the internet it is wonderful. I have a bunch of links if you would like to check them out for yourself. We return on April 1st and will be able to give you more information then.

Any Club Med resort would be a good bet. Club Med Guadaloupe has a beautiful beach and great food. Hedonism was geared more to singles when I was there. Saw very few couples if any.

C. Pacana Mar 25th, 1998 07:45 PM

Probably the best all inclusive in the Caribbean is Grand Lido. Somewhat more expensive, but more luxurious. The beach is next to none and the food and service is excellent. It's a more quiet style resort but truly a lifetime experience. We've been there eight times and plan to go back soon to enjoy another unforgettable vacation!

Angela Mar 25th, 1998 07:54 PM

Can anyone tell me anthing about the new resort Beaches in Negril, Jamaica? I understand it's a brand new property - not one that's been renovated. We are planning a family vacation with a ten year old son. We would greatly appreciate any detailed information with suggestions or helpful tips. We've been to Sandals and several other all inclusive resorts so we are aware of the basic concepts and inclusions. We are hoping to find a family all inclusive as teriffic as Grand Lido, Negril. Thanks.

Adrienne Mar 31st, 1998 11:22 PM

Hi Angela. I too am looking for a personal reference on Beaches. You have seen their web site right? www.Beaches.com I'll let you know if I find out anything. I'd appreciate it if you could do the same. Thanks!

John Sparrow Apr 6th, 1998 06:24 PM

We just got back from Rendezvous in St. Lucia & loved it. Every bit as good as Sandals Ocho Rios (Jamaica) where we stayed 2 years ago.

Price was $2600 US (total - 2 people). Arranged through Key Tours. They have both Windsor & Detroit offices.

Andrea Apr 8th, 1998 04:13 PM

Leslie, in response to your ? on your 4 choices: I've stayed at the Jamaica Grande in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. It's the largest hotel in the Area. The beach is good and the hotel is famous for it's pool with waterfalls. It caters to a very mixed crowd. You will have to pay for all watersports on the beach. If you are looking for relaxation, Breezes in Runaway Bay, Jamaica is a much better choice. It also has a nude private beach. I'm not sure what the $$ are these days. It also has a championship golf course across the street.

leslie Apr 9th, 1998 11:37 AM

Hi, Leslie again, that Breezes Runaway Bay sounds nice; anyone else have further input on this place. Where is Runaway Bay, (would like to be near Ocho Rios or maybe try Negril area). We enjoy natural beauty in scenery, love the beach, etc.... Is snorkeling good in Jamaica and this Runaway Bay area? Am also interested in all inclusive on the following islands:
1) Barbados 2) Cozumel 3) Antigua
4) B.V.I.(may be too expensive there);
Any other natural tropical Carribean islands that offer allinclusive- would love some recommends.

To: Leslie

This is my third attempt to try to post a message here. Have you considered the Dominican Republic? They have several first-class, all-inclusive resorts at very low prices compared to all the others listed above. Check with your travel agent the following: Coral Hamaca in Boca Chica, Playa Naco in Puerto Plata, Paradisus in Punta Cana and my favorite: Casa de Campo in La Romana. They are all situated on spectacular beaches and have all the activities you wish. Drinks are also included in special packages which include meals, transporation, aquatic sports, etc...good luck & bon voyage!

pat Jun 2nd, 1998 05:38 PM

I'm just about to sign-up for Breezes Runaway Bay. The prices I got were anywhere from $2600 to $3100, depending on the travel agency. Have you seen any "travellogues" on this property?

Mike Jun 2nd, 1998 11:33 PM

In the last ten years I have travelled extensively throughout the Caribbean. The best place overall was the island of Provodenciales (Provo for short) which is part of the Turks & Caicos Islands. Very modern yet still uncrowded, reminds me of Grand Cayman 10 years ago. Use search engines for more info." Beaches Resorts" has a resort called Turquoise Resort & Spa on a very quite 12 mile long white sand beach. Simply the best anywhere. (the beach that is) Hope this info helps.

Chris Nawn Jun 7th, 1998 07:51 PM

Hi all,
I'm looking for any comparisons on Sandals resorts. My fiancée and I are looking at Sandals Grand Bahamian and Sandals Antigua. Were in our late 20's so we aren't looking for the quietest place, but if we feel like quite or romance we hope to find it. Any suggestions/comments on these two or any of the Sandals? We are looking for really honest feedback even if it's bad. Thanx in advance.

lesley Jun 8th, 1998 04:50 AM

If you want to read some travelogues, postings from travelers on Sandals properties, as well as many other resorts, check out this web site:
http://www.best.com/~ctr
The postings are quite in depth and very interesting. I know there are a few on Sandals Antigua, not all great reviews on the resort. Hope this helps.

To Chris and the honeymoon: If you are in your 20's look hard at Sandals Negril. In general Negril sports a younger, more casual, more active crowd than other places. The Grand Jamaican is lovely but you will definitely be the youngest there. Sandals Negril is right next door to Hedonism, lovely beach [nude and prude], gorgeous swimming pool and casual, relaxed atmosphere. About a 2 hour bus ride from the airport in Montego Bay.

BR Jun 11th, 1998 01:11 PM

Hi, My new wife and i just went to Sandals-Antiquafor our honeymoon and we had a great time up until the 3rd day. My wife and many other people(from the people i spoke to while there about 30) seemed to get food poisioning. For the remaining 5 days she barelt got to come out of our room. Other than ruining our honeymoon and having to go directly to the hospital from the airport when we got home everything was great. She just started to feel well this past May. Hope this helps.

Michel Jun 15th, 1998 07:30 PM

Getting back to the original message, I have 3 suggestions for your price range. The first would be Hacienda Tropical on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic (large ocean view rooms, many activities, good food, large waves). The second would be Point Village near Negril (condos with full kitchen, small beach with a protected reef - perfect for snorkeling, very lush grounds...). The third is Club Oasis Akumal on the Mayan Coast. Located 1.5 hours south of Cancun in a gorgeous natural setting, this is my personal favourite. You have access to many water sports, a beach with a very nice reef for snorkeling, a dive shop, great food, good live entertainment and wonderful people. In addition, Oasis Akumal is located within 10 minutes by cab of the ruins at Tulum, and 15 minutes by bicycle from the rather quaint village of Akumal. You could also visit the ruins at Chichen Itza (2 hours away).
Has anyone stayed at the Melia Mayan Peridisus all-inclusive on Cozumel? My family is going in a couple of weeks and I'm interested in hearing some experiences there. Thanks

Becky Moore Jun 30th, 1998 11:53 AM

My Fiance and I are thinking of taking our honeymoon at the Couples Resort in Ochos Rios,Jamaica. Does anyone have anything they would like to share?

Kim Jun 30th, 1998 05:27 PM

Two years ago our family(two children ages 3 & 8) stayed at Raddison cable Beach in Nassau, Bahamas. We loved it! It had a wonderful beach, super food, the theme nights were fun, and the kid"s program was okay. We would go back again. This summer we are going to Montego Bay, Jamaica and staying at the all incl, Holiday Inn Sunspree. We've very good things about it. Have a fun time.
Carla Jul 2nd, 1998 08:46 PM

We are going to the Paradisus next month; have not paid yet, am wondering if the trip is worthwhile. We love great beaches for the swimming and some nightlife at the resorts. Have been to many all-inclusives but don't want to spend as much this year. Would you recommend this trip? Did you have a problem with the food or your stomach; I've been hearing some of those problems. Let me know what's what. Thanks, Carla.

Jonathan Hoag Jul 3rd, 1998 12:41 PM

We're considering D.R. in October. Would like to hear how your trip went to Bavaro??? Please let us know.
