Hi,
I don't remember where, but I read about a Chinese restaurant in Toronto that is better known for their steaks then for their Chinese food. My problem is I don't remember the name of it. Does anyone know which restaurant I am talking about?

Thanks,
kathy
Probably China House, on Eglinton Avenue West.
It's more or less a fancy neighborhood restaurant for a primarily jewish clientele who like to eat steaks in a Chinese restaurant.
A semi-weird concept, perhaps, but the food is good (or was, 30 years ago, when I last ate there).(There are fancier, and probably better, steak houses, in locations more convenient for tourists, bythe way)
BAK

Hi,
Thanks for the information Brian. The reason we want to go to a Chinese restaurant that serves steaks is because my husband and I would like to try a Chinese restaurant, but our teenage son would hate it. He is a steak lover, so he will be happy here.

Brian - I believe you may be mistaken, which I sincerely feel is unusual for you, as I find your advice right on in most situations.

The Chinese restaurant famous for its steak is across the street from China House. It is called House of Chan, on the north side of Eglinton Ave., just west of Bathurst St.
