Stu-I remember complaining when the bleacher seats went from $1.50 to $2,00 after the Sox signed Bill Campbell as a relief pitcher. It was mid-70's, but the feeling was the same as those from 1939.

Back to the original thought. We can use the assistance of any visitors to any temples in Asia. Slip it in after world peace and before a new car. Thanks.

Thanks to all who have helped so far. We now need to rest our spirit and get aligned for the next series, whomever our opponent may be.

Although the RS can now relax until Friday, the Yanks are still battling. They need some positive Karma for tonight and, hopefully Wednesday night as well. In their hearts, RS fans really don't want to see a match-up with Cleveland...

In their hearts, RS fans really don't want to see a match-up with Cleveland.

That's true; we'd much prefer Tampa Bay.

Will be interesting to see who the PinHeads, oops, sorry, I mean PinStripes, trot out to pitch tonight. Cleveland's in a bit of a bind, too -- I think they have to go w/Sabathia on short rest, then Carmona on reg rest if necessary.

That would certainly be a shame if Cleve wins in 5 games, in which case neither Sabathia nor Carmona would likely pitch in Game 1.

Tampa Bay - ha ha...

Wang is facing Paul Byrd on the theory that sinker-ball pitchers do better when they are tired. Mussina will be available for long relief and Pettitte will pitch on Wednesday, probably against Sabathia. That would set up Hughes for the Yanks or Carmona for Cleveland to face the RS on Friday.

If I were a Yankee fan, I would hope that Kharma had no influence whatsoever.

Craig Oct 8th, 2007 08:07 AM

Watch what you say, you may come back as a Yankee fan in your next life...

...speaking of the old Sunday doubleheaders..one I remember in particular when the Yanks came to town to drop all four games to Sox (who still couldn't catch the Yanks that year (1942)...but brother Dominic outbatted Joe Di, getting 5-8 in the two games, while Joe struggled with one single in 7 AB's..and as I say, Sox took two, with two HR's from Ted and one from Bobby Doerr(with bases loaded)...I was there... and next to heaven!

Pro sports are very artificial. Look into how and why they get the players each team does. You maybe have a few players who are from the same state. Seems ridiculous too root for any one team since they have nothing to do with the state they reside in. Its just a big business and the unknowing fans are the ones who pay due to their own deception.

So, what's everyones next trip ;)

Gpanda Oct 9th, 2007 03:07 AM

Mango7-I completely agree that Pro Sports (including Big Time college sports) are artificial. It's not reality we seek, but the ability to have unqualified devotion to something. It's childish, but enjoyable. Note Stu T's memories of games more than 50 years ago.

Our next trip is to the ALCS.

SANS YANKEES...

Mango:

I cherish my memories of "artificial" sports like major league baseball, college basketball, etc. And attendance, or merely reading the Sports page, still gives me pleasures. Watching my grandson play college baseball here in California, watching my 16 year old grandaughter pitch on the high school girl's softball team, and my oldest grandaughter run marathons (three Boston's, two L.A.s and two NY's) have given this old man of 78 untold hours of sheer joy.

As my wife says, it's better than hanging out on the streets sellin' dope!

I guess a game can be like going to the movies.

tower Oct 9th, 2007 08:54 AM

Right you are, Mango...we go to a 4:30-5:00 movie every Friday (senior prices, smaller crowds)...pure enjoyment (most of the time).

Gpanda Oct 9th, 2007 10:34 AM

Even though I'm a huge sports fan, I do agree with Mango that there is a substantial number of people that attribute way too much importance to Their teams won-loss record. There are truly Psycho Red Sox fans. If you've ever been in a college town with big time football, e.g., Ann Arbor after a loss, it's just sad.

Gpanda Oct 16th, 2007 07:26 AM

Now would be a very good time for anyone to focus positive energy on the beloved Red Sox. Apparently, the good vibes will not operate from a plus position in a series. This is your chance to make merit.

Craig Oct 16th, 2007 07:28 AM

Wakefield's last stand tonight?

tower Oct 16th, 2007 09:36 AM

now that we have two ugly games out of the mix, the Sox will rebound with a vengeance tonight..amen,

stu t.

Gpanda Oct 16th, 2007 10:29 AM

It's only fitting that we are seeking Kharmic input for a knucleball. Even Wakefield has no idea where it's going. Perfect. We put our trust in the fates.

Ahem...excuse me, I couldn't possibly have read on this thread any deprecating remarks about my Wolverines..or did I???
