andy update...

we took dinner to andy and beth tonight...

he looks really good... he was full of conversation...

he ate a little but not much....

his sight is the problem....his left eye seems to only have about 1/2 sight, but this may improve as the swelling subsides over the next week or so...
his right eye is good but he says things look a little dull---dull is the word i think he used...

he again spoke about how this thread was a real comfort to him as have all the emails he has received... in fact he received one from smeagol while we were there...

My cousin had an aneurysm fixed (wrapped) some years ago and had problems with his vision for a few days. I'm thinking perhaps a week - 10 days until one eye came good.

He also had a bit of a problem with word selection for a day or so.

Thank you so much for the update! The hospital is great for when you need it, but there's no place like home! Andy...hugs and best wishes to you for a steady improvement.

andy: Just got word a few hours ago from BookChick...knew you'd be having the surgery, but didn't know exactly when..on to phase two...successful rapid recovery and treatments. We must all continue to have nothing but positive thoughts for you...!

I went to my <i>siddur/i> and said the proper prayer for recovery from illness for you. <i>"Restore {Andy} to perfect health, and with vigor, bless him!Omayn!"</i>

If Bob gets to be too annoying (as he is apt to do) when he visits, I know some "black hats" in Somerville who can whisk him away for a while. Just say the word. (Karen can continue to bring the food).
Very best wishes...

Andy, I smiled this morning reading over the posts since last I checked in a few days ago. You are irrepressible and it is so wonderful seeing the impact you have had so many. An impact that has cause the circling the virtual wagons that is now embracing you. Keep the faith and the fight. Live in the moment--like we all should. Oh, and here's a little luck %%-

It was an understatement to say I was very pleased to hear you are planning another trip to BKK. I was thinking of you as I placed a flower offering at a Shrine near my BKK hotel yesterday and sent more of those healing wishes your way. Keep up that fight Andy and lots of strength to Beth who I'm sure has been dealing with lots of stress too.
Just lovely to hear all those positive vibes coming your way from all over the world.
Love from beautiful Bangkok
Sue

Glad to hear you got some of your old spunk and wit working. I'm inspecting the Thai Lounge in Bangkok for you at this moment and it will be all spiffed up for you and Beth.

I just found this thread and opened it very timidly, I must say.

.. and am soooo happy to be reading the outcome and all the support. Hugs from Spain.. I have always enjoyed your sense of humor, interesting posts and informative suggestions.

I will be following your recovery religiously now. Happy New Year!

Just found this thread. Dear Andy, Sending you all our strength and love for a full and speedy recovery. Can't imagine this board without your wicked sense of humor.

Sending up the Northern lights just for you from cold and snowy Minnesota.

Oh, Andy, I'd love to see you be able to take a Thai trip this spring!

LAleslie Jan 9th, 2011 01:16 PM

Eat lots of bamboo and drink bamboo tea and the swelling will subside. But aren't big heads a panda trait? May the fur return quickly.

Marija Jan 9th, 2011 01:19 PM

Gpanda--you'll never be able to match the trip report you're writing now, marked with such courage, determination, and wisdom, not to mention, suspense. But I do look forward to a Thai report too.
