SiamJai,

Look up about 11 messages above yours and you'll see that the writer of the blog has already posted the link. I believe Richard Barrow is an expat teacher who has written a few books about Thailand and is probably living here now. It's not a secret but not many foreign tourist know about it let alone are able to go there by themselves. Before Tong started this tour how many people here know about the place?

SiamJai - are you a Thai, expat living in Thailand or a Thai living abroad??

Hanuman-that was one of my favorite movies as a child. You have sullied the memory.

The secret place will cease to be a secret when it appears in a guide book or published travelogue. Until then, it will remain "unknown" to the vast majority of tourists.

Sort of like taking a first peek at the lingerie in Vicotria's Secret?

No, No--I was thinking that if you leave Bob on the island, he would be adopted by a tribe of monkeys and raised as one of their own..like in the french film L'Enfant Sauvage where the boy was raised by wolves! He would forget English and only speak in monkey-speak.

The Thai blog is excellent, Richard.

Ever since I heard the term "sex-pat" I can no longer disassociate it from ex-pat. Anyone else have this problem, lol?

Raised by a Pride of Pandas might be his only chance at a productive life.

Thanks Mr Barrow for that blog. Pleased to say that the girlfriend and I had a great day seeing the monkeys and a pleasant night in the resort mentioned. Spent the next day at the Amphawa floating market also in Samut Songkram.

We were the only foreigners there, that was until small group of 3-4 foreigners arrived with their Thai tour guide (one of Tongs?). Well, they were NOT pleased to see us and tried not to look us in the eye. Probably pissed off becuase they were informed that the place was 'secret'. well worth going.

Amphawa is not a secret place and even here it has been mentioned in the forum since 2005.

Tong has not advertised it as "secret" for years...so I doubt anyone would be upset over that. Just wondering why you thought they were with one of Tong's guides...

Well, if you were at the location for the monkeys, perhaps they realize their cash cow has been discovered.
