Holiday Time Again!
 

Greetings from the much improved Thai Airways first class lounge. I'm off for another holiday to Europe and will be back in a couple of weeks. Just want to report on the lounge and the spa at the airport - it's wonderful! Very skillful masseuse and the 1 hour treatment in a superb spa room with overflowing bath and L'Occitane products.

The only downside is the food. Still sub standard when compared to other flagship first class lounges but the service is incredible.

(A certain SQ SKL F lounge, perchance!? ... (And, immediate apologies for yet another shameless Singapore Airlines promo.)

Glad you enjoyed that rather special TG BKK 'spa'. Have always had the finest experiences with those masseuses and 'baths' (TG F to HKG and NRT, in my case) and if all was going particularly well, a certain SQ bird sighting, sipping 'tea', post-massage.

Keep this thread going; do consider SQ R ex-SIN in future; and this SIA loyalist wishes safe travel and all the best to monkey god! (And your lovely family.)

The lounge champagne was very disappointing! Moet Chandon only but as soon as we boarded the plane we had Dom vintage 2000. Service and food on the Thai flight was better than expected. 3 servings of caviar and they even put more caviar on my breakfast eggs!

Must go out and enjoy the city so later guys!

I can just see Pook playing Baccarat at the casino in his Tuxedo a la Jamed Bond. Shaken, not stirred. Watch out for the agents of SPECTRA, they are the sworn enemies of Fodorites.

Ah, Lucerne. One of my favorite cities in the world (but of course BKK is #1). Will do doubt be there in early Dec. Enjoy!

Aw.. I need a nap and it's only 3.00 PM! Carol, Luzern is beautiful and we are only here for 3 nights and then it's off to Wengen for another 3 nights and then Zermatt for 3 more nights. Probably go to London after that if we are not too home sick!

I haven't been to Wengen, but I enjoyed Zermatt. Switzerland is beautiful. We are always there in the early spring and the very late fall. The mountain passes are never open, so we end up tunneling everywhere... have you ever been on one of the car-trains thru a tunnel? Interesting! Drive onto the flat car, turn off the motor, and ride! Love it! (but I'd prefer a nice sunny mountain view)

Have a great time. Say hello to those contented Swiss cows, should you see any. We stayed at a lovely inn in Interlaken once, and the cows (bells ringing) were right across the stream. We heard them every morning.

Do Swiss farmers have shotgun? - Probably not., but those swiss bankers will empty your secret numbered account in the blink of an eye in retribution for any cow/bell related offences!

All Swiss are (were) equipt with protection for their homes, and to become a citizens army if need be. So, YES, the farmer probably has a shotgun. It may be an old Swiss K31 rifle, but he would know how to use it.... :)

It's definitely the bankers you need to be careful of. They like your accounts, but only if they contain lots of money, which you need to leave in their trusty hands for a long time! We have a friend who moved from the UK to Switzerland and had to deposit lots and lots and lots of SFr, which I'm sure he will never see again. But he loves living in Switzerland.

Well, the champagne in the Thai lounge is certainly disappointing. I am glad to hear that Thai has Dom and caviar in First Class. Sigh, I can remember when United served caviar in First on trans-Pacific flights. Those were the "good old days" of flying.
