Boston GTG

The Hub is alive with the prospects of the upcoming GTG and the anticipated lively exchanges. Bob has promised to wear shorts and a tank top, regardless of the weather. I will run a special and only charge 95% of my normal hourly rate. Carol has promised to bring an "E" and teach us to play pool. Bob, that's play pool not lounge around pool. Having read recent posts, Bob's after lunch tour may include some of the beautiful beaches of New England. Go Red Sox.

I understand that if the Red Sox make it to the AL Championship Series, the Saturday game will be postponed on account of the GTG and they will play a day - night doubleheader on Sunday...

Bob
Brad should be getting his ticket tomorrow. He really wants to come, now that he could not stay on in BKK for an extra week.

To revive something mentioned a while ago,the Peabody-Essex Museum has a terrific special exhibit of Thai art that continues only through Oct 16. I went there last week, and I enjoyed both the pieces on display and the explanations that provided more than a small amount of insight into Thailand and Buddhism. I found the trip to be well worth a visit, and I'm not much of a museum-goer.

The Peabody-Essex Museum is in Salem (MA), about 15 miles north of Boston. Salem is a historic town and a terrific place to spend part of a day.

Gpanda Oct 5th, 2005 09:52 AM

I work in Salem. The PEM is a super way to spend a relaxed afternoon. It evokes the sailing glory of Salem. For GTGers', it would be a good place to go in the afternoon IF the weather is nice. If not, the drive up from Cambridge will not be fun.

Carol, Bob has correctly noted the obscure reference. Looking forward to meeting you and Brad.

just a reminder to all attending the GTG to bring 1 or 2 items from your travels for display....

looking forward to seeing everyone..!!

Great. I now have Bob signing my name to his posts. As if I don't have enough enemies?

emd Oct 5th, 2005 11:15 AM

I am much too busy obsessively planning my next trip to Japan to come to Boston. Plus, must watch the Red Sox (what do you mean "IF they make it into the AL Champooinship Series"??) at home as my husband will be horrible company if they lose.

Seriously, I wish you all a great time. My father's great grandfather was the fire chief of Boston for years, so if you all really raise heck and start some fires tell current Chief Campbell that former-Chief Sennott's great grandson's wife, emd, said to put them out for you.

simpsonc510 Oct 5th, 2005 02:21 PM

It's official. Son now has his plane ticket. WE shall both see you in BOS.

rhkkmk Oct 5th, 2005 06:50 PM

lyndie---come and bring the wine...loads of back packer places to stay here...

Lyndie Oct 5th, 2005 09:52 PM

Bob, you're a sharp as a razor blade, today! Have a lot of fun & remember to do everything in moderation, including using poor old Gpanda's credit card! With friends like you, who needs enemies? ha ha ha ha ha!

laurieco Oct 6th, 2005 02:17 AM

I'm sorry I won't be bringing any leeches to the GTG, never saw one. If I happen to see some while here in KL, will pack them up. Looking forward to seeing you all.

rhkkmk Oct 6th, 2005 06:06 AM

Craig Oct 6th, 2005 06:12 AM

Maybe Laurie can bring the socks to the GTG for the display...

glorialf Oct 6th, 2005 06:33 AM

Wish I could come but just can't this time. Have a fabulous time. I'd really like to think about having a GTG in Chicago -- but not in winter.
